What do you think about?

It needs a lot less "noise". Something slightly more simple. You noticed how the Doom status bar was easy to read, right? The background is a simple concrete base, while you had clear red numbers to read. If you follow that kind of simplicity...

I have another status bar, this time much, much more customized for my own tastes. You can use any of the graphics and/or fonts, I really don't care what you do with them. (The bar itself uses a mix of two different textures, COMPBLUE and COMPSPAN)

EDIT: It's a stripped down and generalized version of my bar from my own mod, just with no face graphics.

I have to agree with PDF, it's noisy and hard to read. There isn't enough contrast between the background and numbers of the status bar. The numbers blur into it, making it hard to read. There are a bunch of different ways to make things more readable, so I'm not sure I can give you any practical advice. Reducing complexity and upping contrast is probably the best way.

Now there's contrast: numbers are easy to read:

It looks a little better but it's still very noisy. It likes to attract the attention of the player too much. Like I had said with the classic Doom status bar, it's kept simple for a reason; you look down and all of your information is there, plain as day, yet it doesn't pull your attention either. I feel my bar also achieves this, yet also able to keep a technologic look to it. I really recommend you look at it! Hack it up, take the fonts, I don't care! :D

I kinda like the other green, to be honest.

Also, I don't really like that statusbar. It still looks a bit too distracting. I suggest getting rid of those light blue streaks.

Yeah, the blue steaks are distracting and, actually, the numbers just kind of look laid on top of those panels anyway. The Health and Arms sections look much better than the Ammo and Armor IMO.

Update (nothing new to download, yet):

First, i've used color palette from Tormentor's Austerity, so no more problems on colors...

Second, here's the new statusbar...let me know if it's still distracting:

Numbers are from Tormentor's Austerity; it's strange that they're confused... :?
