If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Some time ago (read: many, many years) I made a low poly model that was an approximation of the Strife Crusader robot, changed to suit my own needs.

My son has a 3D printer, so we decided to see how it would look.

The answer is a bit rough but pretty cool. It definitely needs tidying up, and maybe a new print with some different settings, and it really shows the low-poly-ness of the model. We also had to edit the model a bit to make it look "right" and to overcome some problems with the physicality of printing.

However, I'm really happy with the result. It's really quite something to hold in my hand a model that I made so many years ago, which I have seen in game many times but is now a physical thing.

Once I get this one as good as I can, I may look at similar other things to print.

"Put down the 3D printer! You have twenty seconds to comply!!"

That's very good. (Though I don't think the devs of Strife could have ripped off the ED-209 harder if they had tried to :P )

They are very obviously ED209 "inspired". Of course, the ED209 is a very cool design, to it's totally understandable IMO. :D

I'm making a monster pack to replace the Doom roster with human enemies of different types. Currently unfinished but I wanted to show it off to see what y'all thought.

Spoiler:
My first "serious" mapping project. I'm looking for a Backrooms/early 00 FPSs/GMod Maps vibe.

No idea if this is going to go anywhere. Current motivation levels are hitting a wall. However, I think it looks quite pretty. :)

From the video description:

Eye of the Beholder was probably the first PC game that I really got into. I've always wanted to do something EoB-related in the Doom engine.

(In fact, I released an EoB related map onto the Compuserve Action Games Forum circa 1994/95 - but it was just a Doom map with a layout "borrowed" from EoB.)

The EoB sprites are not particularly well suited to the Doom engine. Their style is a bit cartoony, flat, they have black borders, far too few frames (no animations beyond two walking frames and two attack frames in most cases) and are only drawn from front, side and rear.

Also, the concept of a 6-member party (from EoB) doesn't translate well to the single-person FPS.

So, I'm experimenting with Heretic and Hexen sprites and Hexen player classes.

I have an idea of someone in a modern environment flung into something resembling the world of EoB. It's all very tentative at the moment, but that idea explains why the room at the start looks like it does.

This is merely a proof of concept, and it may well go nowhere (it's certainly not anywhere near complete at the moment) but I thought I'd upload it anyway.
