sloping

Post by cccp_leha »

I know how to so this:

Code: Select all

-----\
       \
         \
           \
           /
         /
       /
_____/
but how would I do this:

Code: Select all

-----\
      \
       |
       |
       |
      /
_____/
I'm assuming the slope things in some unorthodox fasion.

You can do that by moving the wall then raise the ceiling and lower the floor so that they're not touching. It'll look like this without the slope:

Code: Select all

--------+
        |
        |
        +----+
             |
             |
             |
        +----+
        |
        |
--------+
NOTE: ASCII art CAN serve a purpose!

No need for open scripts, you can make this design time.

Just like what Destroyer told, you make a sector and them slope both floor and ceiling to smooth the things out and it will be what you want.

Slopes are definitely map constructs, since they cannot be done by scripting.

Or otherwise said: sloping is done at level entry. Anything else you do affects the slope as a whole object. That is, if you raise the sector (which is sloped), you raise the whole slope, at its beginning and end point [ by X units ].

What a dumbass I am; I had that in front of me in my own WAD before I asked the question! I'd better sleep now.

Yeah I felt.... when I discovered this... This could have made an interesting "lift", which slopes itself and then goes back up. Whee!
Anyway.
