How do the saves work? I had to quit a couple hours into a good run and it lost all progress. Didn't even count as death.

Re: DOOM Infinite - [DEMO 0.978.5]
Is there any way to have DOOM Infinite use its own settings file because it requires setting a lot of keybinds and i dont want to mess with my usual stuff.

That's correct, that's what they're for. Some of the objects they're used on are permanent, others are only a one-off.

Re: DOOM Infinite - [DEMO 0.978.5]
I'm getting an error message at the end of the tutorial and I cannot go any further. The error states "ERROR. CODE: map config error (50)". Any ideas how I can fix, or what's causing this?
Also, I'm digging this so far.

Re: DOOM Infinite - [DEMO 0.978.5]
I lost a great run to the elevator challenge behind a soul door, because the homing projectiles apparently don't get culled by the floor... So I went from 100+ health and armor to instantly dead when I got hit by a batch of them after the elevator was done riding back up! I'm... Not sure what caused that? Do they only die on hitting walls?
Additionally, the chainsaw thinks it's the last selected weapon in the mod menu. It mods fine, but the title is that of the previously selected weapon.

What is the point of 'Legendary' weapons? They cost a lot for mod upgrades, but they don't seem to be any better than 'normal' grade weapons.

Re: DOOM Infinite - [DEMO 0.978.5]
The more and more i play "0.978.6" the less, and less i enjoy it.
Upgrades to passives are just completely forgettable; useless, and not fun to have. "Ring of Entropy" is a prime example. It only gives random boost 4 times then *poof* gone... Why? Nothing interesting happens after the four uses.
Meanwhile, "Ammo drain" is a thing on weapons, when the influx of spawning monsters drains my ammo just fine and after a while: it stops spawning specific ammunition types...
"Legendary" Weapons feel useless it just has a fancy gold color to the gun.
Special unlockable rooms aren't really interesting because 1: The rooms are absurdly difficult. 2: It spawns useless passives, or active items.
Weapon mod boxes don't spawn enough to keep up with the all the weapons and the progression of the game.
Certain levels where some floors go up and down: They stop moving and i get stuck in the level; No longer can make progress to get to the end of the level.
The potential for this game is there, I really like the concept. It feels unique, and if it did address some issues I would most certainly pay for something like this. I realize ideas for this type of game are far from easy and probably as difficult as the game itself if not more-so.. But I can no longer bring myself to the frustration of the game where it feels futile to even play for more than a few minutes at a time, before i realize the glaring problems.. But again: I would pay for a game like this. even for $50 if all goes well.

You can specify a config file using theDan_The_Noob wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 7:00 pm Is there any way to have DOOM Infinite use its own settings file because it requires setting a lot of keybinds and i dont want to mess with my usual stuff.
Code: Select all
-config
Code: Select all
gzdoom -iwad doom2.wad -file doom.infinite.pk3 -config infinite.ini

Hi.
Any possibility to make this mod compatible with LZDoom, deleting some features of the mod, like an more simple version of this mod?
Thanks for your attention and waiting for your response.

Re: DOOM Infinite - [DEMO 0.978.5]
The mod is great and its replayability is astounding. Amazing work here!
However, my main criticism would be that the reward for completing the "three sigils wall" (including the subsequent steps) is by far the lamest and most uninteresting of all the available content. It takes a lot of work and time and your reward is exactly the same thing you get everywhere else. I don't mind the steps, but I'd suggest a complete rework to the reward, like having a really difficult boss fight/unique challenge. If you lose, the run ends as always. If you win, something really worth the hassle, like a permanent boost to the initial stats in the next runs, to give an example.
Overall, a really enjoyable experience anyways.
