Customisable weapon loadout for Russian Overkill 3.0a

I really love Russian Overkill. It's brilliantly mindless fun, but the large number of weapons can be overwhelming at various times, and sometimes it can be a while if you want to obtain your favourite chainsaw/rocket launcher/plasma rifle tier weapon during a playthrough, while it can be easy to be overwhelmed with shotgun/chaingun tier weapons thanks to enemy drops.

Well, to alleviate this issue a little, I wrote a little mod that takes advantage of the new scripted spawning functions of the RandomSpawner:


Each weapon tier has two slots that can be adjusted to spawn only either one or two specific weapons from that tier (for example, adjusting the Chaingun options to Martyoshka and Power Overwhelming will only spawn those two particular weapons from that point on, and so on), or continue to spawn randomly chosen weapons like normal, so you can adjust your own specific little weapon loadout. Or heck, selecting one slot to (random) and the other to a specific weapon will cause the latter to spawn more frequently in that tier.

To run, just add this mod after Russian Overkill proper. The new loadout options menu should appear inside the "Real Soviet Stuff" menu. Note that "Class Restriction" in the Convienience menu must be disabled for this session.

Bless you for making this. <3 Weapon count is one of the things that bogged down Russian Overkill for me (as much as I like it) so this is the perfect mod to get me back into RO.

Fully agreed with this; its why I normally play Trailblazer over RO every time, but having this instead might make it more worthwhile.

This is pretty awesome. One feature I'd love to see would be a menu option to randomize the set loadout. It's a feature I wish so many mods with huge and awesome weapon collections would have: randomized per playthrough rather than per drop.

Decided to update this now that RO has released a brand new version. Instead of just providing compatibility, there's now two slots for each weapon tier that can be customised (for example, you can now choose to have Martyoshka and Power Overwhelming spawn for the Chaingun tier), and there's also new randomization options. :)
