H there
I just started playing around with DECORATE.txt and I have got the basics of changing monsters/items etc. However when I try and change any values for the DoomPlayer it does not work.
According to what I have read so far I can't just type actor NewDoomPlayer : DoomPlayer replaces Doomplayer
and that I have to add: PlayerClasses = "NewDoomPlayer", "DoomPlayer" to the GameInfo {} section in the MAPINFO.
Does this mean I go into the MAPINFO directory inside the zdoom.pk3 and then put that line into doom1.txt? I tried that and it does not work.
I am running Ultimate Doom from GOG and using ZDoom.
Thanks.
How do I edit the DoomPlayer actor?

Create your own MAPINFO file and put it in your mod.

here's a full wiki page about it
by the way, zdoom is kind of outdated by now, I recommend using the updated version of gzdoom
