Yes, we all know that there should only be evergreens.

Re: DooM : The Golden Souls 2
I wanted to add an outdoor section to the first castle, that stuff is a placeholder for some new textures i still have to make (same thing for the hammerknight, scripten is working on some unique sprites for it)SamVision wrote:LOL why are there deciduous trees in a lava dungeon?

if we gotta hop and hop over the small platforms, that's what the platformer games are need to be intended.

I kinda like it with the green, alive look instead. It adds to the zaniness of a Mario world.

Re: DooM : The Golden Souls 2
i´m really excited about this sequel. yesterday i finished the first one, and i must say: genius stuff.
only downside was about guns, although, i loved the shotguns, both of them.
mixing mario and doom was fantastic idea.
let the second come...

Gotta agree with TehRealSalt, I think the deciduous trees, silly as they were, were really nice and helped the area to pop out. My absolute favorite thing about The Golden Souls is how starkly it opposes typical, drab palettes, and in my opinion, the lush greens contrasting the warm lava in this area just looked really cool. Green and red are complementary colors, after all! Personally I would love to see this lava castle look like how it did in the video. ♥

Nah, I like the change better. It is true that there was some color contrast in the previous version, but it looked really silly, not even Mario games do that.Lazymoth wrote:Gotta agree with TehRealSalt, I think the deciduous trees, silly as they were, were really nice and helped the area to pop out. Re: DooM : The Golden Souls 2
Yeah, but The Golden Souls did some stuff Mario would never do anyway, like the Starry Night level- especially considering how homogenized and repetitive new Nintendo games like NSMB are in their range of environments. I've seen plenty of levels that look like what the lava dungeon looks like now, but I think the old version was very striking. The complementary mix of colors is just so rich and nice to look at, and I think the trees' existence is interesting in its surreality... it makes it more memorable.
I think anyone can tell that obviously trees wouldn't grow there realistically. If anyone identified their existence as a "goof" rather than a deliberate choice I'd think that was silly. And in any case, as far as realism goes, trees in the proximity of lava is certainly less verisimilitude-breaking than the bonus levels, with their Sunshine inspired floating platforms in psychadelic haze.
But that's just me

Re: DooM : The Golden Souls 2
well, sometimes we gotta off from the science or realism. they are just so hard and plain boring. so i changed my mind; make that tree almost dying, with having a half-dead leaves!...or not.
