A Hi-Tech wall texture I made using my own circuit board as source:

The board might also work well as a door texture. I think I'll give it a try soon.

I do like cityscape "skies" even if it is often possible for objects in the picture to seem closer than ones in the level. are those both made with existing video game resources? I think that first one's city would look nice in a higher resolution view, if there is a larger photographic source for it. the second appears to be missing a 256x128 patch, unless one piece gets used twice.

The city sky is made from the Thy flesh consumed sky and a sky from requiem (1997 wad), i thought the buildings would look really cool on this sky, plus, thy flesh consumed' sky is supposed to be near a burning city ( suggested by the ending pictures).

i suppose their colors match it to a degree, though I wonder why the residents have not evacuated if the sky is on fire and demons are tossing glowing orbs around outside. Maybe that is normal around there.

but burning sky ah ha that reminds me of this old concoction, from may 2000 if the bmp dates can be trusted.
heat.gif
this effect was a nuisance in 2000ish, paint shop pro has some sort of filter that I put over it and I probably needed to have it laid out doubled to get the effect looped, and then I did it 15 more times, which resulted in maybe 3 rough waves, and from there 12 of them could be reassembled into a single smoother wave.
I presume there is something which can automate that now! and of course I had to obsessive-compulsively pre-mirror it even though that makes it inconsistent with regular doom 2.
blaze.gif
each frame has two of these; 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 3 and 1, 4 and 2. I can't remember if it actually makes a difference.
SKYLESS2.png
this looks like it has a bit of rott sky stuck to it

then I had all black behind the fires so the waving part could be scrolled at .2 speed via hexen-style sky2.

i never finished the level it was for but i used it in plenty of other people's, evidently. I only saw the waving part when glancing up since I simply crammed too much into one sky. it might work better with the lighter row of mountains removed and the flames placed lower.

apparently I screwed something up with my palette at some point since it no longer makes the black transparent in-game, so I just get NOTHING behind the flames, but I am replacing all modified doom resources and low resolution graphics anyway so I suppose that matter is mostly mootly.

Well it's supposed to be am sdden demon attack, so the citizens just quickly left without turning off the lights and stuff,it's explained in my wads plot, but that's still WIP.

Oh hello. After some fiddling I determined that those february 2009 screenshots come from from maps 24 and 27 of 10sector.wad. There definitely is some nutty intricate stuff going on in there that I can't manage which is why i make hundreds of stupid pictures instead! I couldn't find an applicable screenshot of the sky functioning in the correct level, I mean. Presently it has a more lava-lamp type animation that I only just implemented and obviously there is loads else that needs to go here (much of it starting in anglicized Irish names and ending in single digit integers); when I looked today apparently I hadn't updated the level itself since 2004!
