You might look at me funny if I told you how delighted I am about this decision. And why. :laff:

Looks nice though.

The decision isn't final. I might return RPG stuff later (but it won't be the focus of the mod - just an extra) once I finish the maps. :)

I honestly think you should keep it as an rpg, but that's personal preference. It IS your mod, and you should be able to do whatever you want with it regardless of others opinions. Anyways, you're a much better mapper than me, and I'm looking forward to this thing. You're my favorite mapper so far.

Interesting project, but - no offense - you need to tone down on the Photoshoppery. It's hiding what the map really is and makes it difficult to judge. Raw screenshots are much more preferrable...

Based on what's released so far, this is actually looking quite nice! :) Do you think I might be able to make a map for it?
(Evil unleashed is still higher priority for me, cuz I don't want to get too distracted and let it die)

I might return the RPG features, but I'm afraid that if I complicate it too much now in the beginning I might get bored of it and quit later (which has happened to me before btw). So once I finish the maps, decorate... whatever else I need to do, I'll probably return the RPG stuff. Anyway I'd like it to be a RPG more, but I don't know if I can muster the patience to make it all work (I already have it planned in my head, but actually doing it...)

Also, I'm your favorite mapper? I only started mapping a couple of weeks ago...

Right, I'm almost finished with Map01, so I'll post a few more 'raw' screenshots and maybe a video.

Sure, I said before:
If anyone wishes to help you can submit a map or 2 :). No particular style is needed, just they should be fun to play and okay looking. Also if you include custom monsters/items, PM me them in a separate wad so I can include them in my DoC wad.

It's not so much the maps that make you my favorite (from what I've seen), it's the use of textures and the locations things are placed. Those factors really play a huge part in mapping.

I really... REALLY... like those screenshots. However I agree shot 2 doesn't quite live up to the others.

Demo

Okay, I've decided to release a tiny (very tiny - like it will take you less than 5 minutes to play through it) demo of the area in MAP01 that I have finished mapping. This demo I released so you can see ingame the style I'm using and know what to expect from the rest of the wad. There are also enemies and items so there is a little gameplay. Without further ado, the link - http://files.drdteam.org/index.php/file ... nydemo.zip

Also, thanks Enjay for letting me use the sky from one of his mods :).

Yay :D
 It's nothing much... It's just a small piece of the 1st level.

Oh and btw I'll probably add some rats, spiders, birds and other critters to that area - just so you know its not 100% finished yet.

Ok, I just played through it, and I think it's AMAZING. Well, ok. The mapping is great, and the enemies fit into the environment perfectly. One problem I had though is that the hell rose (looked inside your decorate if you don't mind) threw the vine things everywhere. Like, to a point where it rendered me completely immobile making me restart.

The Hell rose wasn't made by me. I downloaded it from Realm667 bestiary.
I'll probably modify it to make it easier later... And also why should I mind if you take a look inside Decorate? It's all open source - take what you want...

Oh no, I wasn't going to take anything xD
I was just trying to see how you did that dynamic lighting effect you see in the pond. Just a quick check to see if it was in decorate before I read up on it in the wiki.

Well feel free to take anything if you do want - I don't mind... Also the lights are included in GZdoom.
