Do I get .tar.bz2 support too?randy wrote:[*]Adds support for zip/pk3 files with LZMA and BZip2 compression. (7-Zip is one program that can create such files.)

Of course not. If you even have a shred of knowledge about how it works it should be clear that it's completely unsuitable for game resources.

Apologies for not adding enough smilies to denote above's rhetorical question.
So what is the minimum version of 7z/p7zip I need? Or would stuffing single .bz2 files into an uncompressed zip archive work too?

Re: ZDoom 2.3.1 released
You would have to expand the entire archive into it's uncompressed tar format just to even read the directory, I am guessing... that would take up a lot of memory, for a big archive, right there.Graf Zahl wrote:Of course not. And then, to grab resources, again you would need to keep it in its uncompressed form, because if you saved only the directory in memory earlier, you would still need to find the entry...

Re: ZDoom 2.3.1 released
Hmm, It's good that you're releasing new versions on a regular schedule, and not every couple of years.
As for American time Date thing.
What's wrong with 3/14/09? Month Day Year? Seriously, what's wrong with it.
The non american way is really confusing to me, because well, when you've grown up with something for 26 years, it's hard to accept that it's wrong in the first place, at least, according to Gez...
Personally, though, i couldn't care less.

Curse those wacky conventions that get drilled into our heads when we were young. I'll never use anything other than MDY (except perhaps very, very reluctantly). Reminds me of the whole imperial/customary vs. metric units thing. Metric is so nice, but we Americans (myself included) can't let go of our precious gallons and miles. ;P
Yay world.
Yay world.

Hmm, well I compiled it in ubuntu, was easy enough. The framerate is kinda jerky though. It's not an underpowered cpu, 1.86ghz core 2 duo :/

If you think about it, the order of this makes no sense.DavidB1000 wrote:Hmm, It's good that you're releasing new versions on a regular schedule, and not every couple of years.

After all ISO8601 is Y > M > D so it's proper. Most significant information comes first.
European is D < M < Y which is also ok but less intuitive for sorting purposes.
Now American: M > D < Y??? Sorry, makes no sense at all.

The only "justification" that I have seen for it that it is common to say "March (the) 18th" when talking about the date. I don't know how common that form of speech is in the US but, in my estimation, the other way around "18th of March" is just as, if not more, common in the UK.

That logic is probably what got the U.S. armed forces to start using the European method some time ago -- if only in the form of 01 JAN 2001. It's clear to read and you won't get day and month mixed up any time soon.Graf Zahl wrote:If you think about it, the order of this makes no sense.DavidB1000 wrote:Hmm, It's good that you're releasing new versions on a regular schedule, and not every couple of years.

My frustration is otherwise shared as I have to use the M/D/Y method on my webpage. *shakes fist*

My frustration is shared also as my watch, marketed and sold in the UK (but made in Japan) uses M/D to display the date.

Re: ZDoom 2.3.1 released
I didn't say it's wrong, just that it's illogical listing the units out of size order. It's not really a problem, except that this can result in ambiguity if neither of the number is greater than 12 -- for example, is 11/07 the eleventh of July, or the 7th of November?DavidB1000 wrote:The non american way is really confusing to me, because well, when you've grown up with something for 26 years, it's hard to accept that it's wrong in the first place, at least, according to Gez...
And can't you change that setting? I can on mine.Enjay wrote:My frustration is shared also as my watch, marketed and sold in the UK (but made in Japan) uses M/D to display the date.
