And that's how you can tell that it's a command-line tool.Godzilla wrote:I downloaded the exe, I open it and it closes after a second?

If you call poking you from the FUTURE, yes. Way to bump a (stickied) thread that is two months old.Nirvana wrote:This was a poke at me, wasn't it? hahaGez wrote:And that's how you can tell that it's a command-line tool.Godzilla wrote:I downloaded the exe, I open it and it closes after a second?

Re: MAPINFO conversion tool
Does it convert Eternity map-info as well?

Re: MAPINFO conversion tool
Despite having the same name, ZDoom and Eternity's MAPINFO syntax are completely different.

Re: MAPINFO conversion tool
Actually, Eternity uses EMAPINFO while ZDoom uses ZMAPINFO. So the names aren't the same.
(Yeah I know you can use just plain MAPINFO with ZDoom but if you're using the new ZDoom format you should rather use ZMAPINFO to avoid crossport compatibility issues. Even for a ZDoom-only mod, if only to acquire a good habit.)

So as to ensure cross-port compatibility with lightly modded Eternity mapsGez wrote:Why would it?

Re: MAPINFO conversion tool
Two issues here:
1. This was never said to be in the scope for that program. The aim was to convert old format to new; and so mostly to quickly build a corpus of MAPINFOs to test the implementation of the new format.
2. The ZDoom and Eternity MAPINFO feature sets are not homothetic: there are ZDoom MAPINFO functions that you cannot translate to an EMAPINFO function; making the conversion an incomplete and destructive one.

Re: MAPINFO conversion tool
Totally outside the scope of this program. It's merely a syntax converter, not a content converter which would be necessary for handling EMAPINFO. The tool doesn't even check the validity of the converted definitions.

Re: MAPINFO conversion tool
I have un-stickied this because it's on the downloads page now.
