[idea] Official Unofficial ZDoom Build
As you can notice, I'm constantly updating grbzdoom with usefull stuff made by various programmers (mostly Graf ). So I want to ask you, is it good idea to make it "official unofficial zdoom build"? It can have names as "zdoom .97u" or "uzdoom .97" ("u" = "unofficial"). We can then make page & links on wiki, documentation for new features and so on. IMO it's better than waiting for 'real official zdoom build'. Opinions?

I was about to suggest the same thing. Considering that 'officially' nothing is happening and that this situation will most likely continue it's probably the best we can do.
If Randy really decides to release an interim version we can easily integrate that into ours.
Plus, it would make realizing new ideas much easier.

Well, that's a problem. If he does that it's no longer 'unofficial'. But it would certainly benefit everyone if we could get out a 2.0.97 version with all the submitted code together.
Anyway, I'm really willing to help him convert the code if that means the new 'real' version comes out quicker. Right now I still have some rough docs for the weapon/inventory support that wait to be included into the Wiki and I really want to finish that stuff which I started 1 year and 3 months ago.

Perhaps Randy could post these on lars as "unofficial and unsupported" builds.
I do think that it's important that these builds are made available to people, even if only so that they can get accustomed to using the features that will (based upon past experience) eventually be incorporated into official builds.

Shut up! I'm tired of waiting. The weapon code has been collecting dust for 5 months now (15 if you count the first revision) and I really want to put that behind me. But as long as it isn't official I can't. The draft of the documentation is still waiting to be included into the Wiki but who knows whether this will ever happen? Maybe by the time this gets 'officially' released I have lost my interest in Doom.
