I have a ceiling fan model obj I want to rotate, but instead, it flips like a pancake.

No. Exact same thing, but one wouldn't work.
Both model, modeldef, zscript and mapinfo are the same.
Only difference is, I created a sprite so it shows in the editor.

Hmmm... I'm intrigued. Any chance you could upload both models somewhere? There must be a difference in there somewhere. If not, it's no big deal. I'm just interested. My initial guess as to what might be happening is was that the actual model was facing 90 degrees from the angle that you wanted it to and so it was rotating on the wrong axis (as far as the intended purpose at least).
