If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Hi all! I've technically been a part of the Doom community for a long time now. NewDoom old. My old account here was deactivated and I can't find a way to contact an admin to fix it, but I figure i might as well start fresh anyway because it's been quite a while. Hoping to stay inspired to release some maps and mods because it's always been one of my favorite creative outlets!

Dropping in to say hello.

I enjoy the work that has gone into the ZDoom and GZDoom ports; it's nice to have a modern engine on which to play the classics.

Nothing else to say, really.

So... this is gonna be a weird one. Because I've been here before, but it's been a LONG time.

My name's Jonaya, and I was last active here in (shuffles notes) 2009. Back then I was still going by the screen name "JonnyFive" (ugh) and wasn't out as a trans woman yet... so... uh... a lot has changed.

Actually left this fandom because of some issues with an abusive spouse (this is an understatement), spent a few years literally in hell (this is not), ended up in the Homestuck fandom. Ended up directing a fan-made sequel to one of the Homestuck games (Friendsim 2, it's still in development), and a friend in that fandom wants to eventually do a project with GZdoom and asked if I'd be interested in helping... so I figured I'd poke my head back in here.

Y'know... 13 years later. When you're a completely different gender and sexuality and have an ex who's now in prison. As you do.

[EDIT: Thanks to the admins, I'm back, babeyyyy! :) ]

But yeah - I'm the lady what made Cold as Hell and the WeatherFX mods and such. Also the horrible "Commander Bearcorp TC" mod from when I was like 14. Sadly the sequel to Cold as Hell ("Dead Rain") is probably lost forever - the latest build of it was on a laptop that ended up in evidence in the criminal case against my ex, and I never had the heart to ask for it back. Which is too bad, because it had some cool shit going on including at least one functional friendly NPC and a working monster, along with some weapons and effects. It actually makes me feel extremely happy to see the amount of folks who're enjoying Cold as Hell and modifying it and stuff. The end of that mod's development is kind of a painful process, but I genuinely had a good time working on it - it was probably one of the few things keeping me sane at that point in my life. Imagine my surprise when I search my mod and find thousands of people watching playthroughs of it, lol!

I don't expect to be super active here, at least not for a while, but I wanted to drop back in and say hello - I think I still see a couple folks I remember from the Old Days, but I'm sure basically no one remembers me at this point, lol.

Welcome back! I do hope you can somehow recover or find Dead Rain once again, but otherwise, glad to see you've returned :)

Hell yeah! I'll probably poke around my older computer at some point and see what I can find - might have at least an older build.

tbh there was a lot of jank in the game that would require sorting out, but the thing I'd most like to recover is I put a lot of time into making these dynamic computer screen interfaces for environmental storytelling. Then again, I've been doing a lot of weirdly similar stuff in RenPy lately and could probably create a better system with all the stuff that's been added to GZDoom in the last 12 years!

Hello.
Middle aged Aussie Family man, amateur artist/coder, bit of a technological dinosaur

Just joined Zdoom finally after lurking here last couple of years. long time fan of old school games especially Doom2 and Wolfenstein 3d, as i grew up with them.
always wanted to mod games back in the day but lacked programs/resources and confidence to try so never really progressed with it. but few years back got heavily into wolf 3d mods/ especially those by team raycast and Doomjedi. was impresssed and followed posts that lead me here where i was simply blown away by scope of doom2 modding community.

needless to say i was hooked and after playing various amazing TC's/ gameplay mods figured i could give it a whirl. made couple of gameplay mods for my kids (who found base Doom2 little to violent..Hah) which due to me being completely clueless, i didn't keep track of Credits/resources ETC and cant release here. Have currently spent most of last 2 years now in Covid lockdown which has given me whole lot of time to do things properly. hope to show off something soon but want to make sure i get it right.

also took me pretty long time to psyche my self up to join forum. so please be gentle

Hey everyone! New to this forum despite of lurking as a guest for a long time, but i've finally made a account on here.
I am a long time Doom fan and it was actually my first game as a 2 years old (i know it sounds crazy, but it true). I took a hiatus from Doom due to being on Console so much. Ever since i got back on PC in the early 2010s, I got deep into the Doom mod scene and I don't regret it one bit. Hope I do see you all around! :)

Hello, been playing since '94. Love all the creative mods and maps. I have some small experience editing myself (maps that would bork 12 hours into them, small tweaks to existing mod code to personalize a bit) and would just like to thank all the B-da--es here for all the hard work that has improved my life all these years. I am currently trying to to square the circle and make a combat rebalance with an eye towards twitchier play that is between UV and Nightmare, with mixed results. Im learning code about it. If something beyond mediocre or broken results, I will post it here.

Had a load of fun playing stuff made by this community so I figured I would try my hand at a few things myself. Hopefully the results are enjoyable. Thanks for all the good times.

I realized that this topic is already existed after nearly 3 months (I joined in April, and I rarely to login this forum).
Anyway, I really enjoyed Classic/Vanilla Doom since I am 14 (if I'm remember correctly), as well as enjoying GZDoom and LZDoom (ZDoom and Zandronum in earlier) with mods.
Maybe I will trying to create a major mod and custom maps while I learned how to coding (although I'm still struggling to learn ZScript).
