[WIP] After Dawn

Hi.

I have begun working on a mega wad that I decided to call... After Dawn.

It will be build on a foundation that will consist of Enjays excellent Genetech project.
He was kind enough to let me use the assets from his project.

Any requirements needed to run Enjays Genetech project will apply to this megawad "TC" as well.

I have been working on making additional skins for the models and additional stuff will be added, like the cubes that kill nearby creatures and replicates and more

The story is not yet complete, but the basic concept is this... you are on a mission where you will visit around 30ish planets in search of clues and the
eventual rescue of the galactic princess known as Dawn.

I hope to add helpers as well.. such that the player will travel with a squad of other soldiers that perhaps even could be commanded such that a strategic element would also be present

this is very early in development, so everything is still subject to change.

the font, I will likely make it red to fit more in the theme with black and red.

Definitely interested to see how this progresses. Interesting changes so far. I like that you've decided to go for a red and black theme to give it your own look versus the orange/cyan theme I had. :thumb:


BTW, it's better to use Imgur to host images rather than attaching to the forum. You can post more and bigger images that way (and the forum isn't meant as a file host anyway - it has a size limit). Instructions can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=56065

Thanks :)

This project will give me the chance to try out a lot of stuff that I have been thinking about. I just hope that I can make enough variation between the planets.
I will try Imgur when posting pictures from future updates :D

And thanks again Enjay, for being allowed to use the resources from GeneTech. I am a huge fan of your work :D

I am learning a lot of modern mapping methods and will be using those in maps for this megawad

I can not believe that 3D floors are not more common in levels

Same goes for 3D models

plans update:

in order to honor old games and to create diversity of the many levels (worlds) that this project will require, I plan to let each world be inspired by classic games, so I am considering one/more/some/all of the following:

another world - rocky and castle jump and gun level
hunter - sandbox mission level with islands
castle master - castle sandbox level
shadow of the beast - medievel themed outdoor and indoor plus subterrain levels
fire warrior - sandbox outdoor and in houses kill enemy soldiers
turrican - mostly subterrain level
hugo - mineshaft level
boulderdash - 3d cube level with cubes that can be dug out etc
pp hammer - inside castle gold and potion hunting themed level with rock that can be 'mined' etc
gods - egypt indoor themed level
hero quest - inside rpg tile based level that begins on a staircase
space crusade/hulk - inside scifi rpg tile based level that begins in an airlock
alien - alien breed based techbase that starts from outside beside the spacecraft, weapon upgrades/buys?
curse of ra - puzzle level where stones need to be pushed to match
indiana jones/tomb raider - indy styled tomb jump and gun level
ufo enemy unknown - investigate city level
monkey island - pirate wannabe rpg puzzle level
curse of enchantia - weird puzzle escape level
chaos engine - outside run and gun sandbox level
gobliiins - out and inside puzzle level
hook - another pirate themed puzzle level
pirates - the level takes place on a giant 3D pirate ship in fast moving 3d water
simon - simon the sorceror themed level
lemmings - dig a tunnel to the exit
zool - 3d platform themed level
aladdin - aladdin themed level
fears - fears themed level
gloom - gloom themed level
alone - alone in the dark themed level
lba - little big adventure themed level
carpet - magic carpet themed level
king - kings quest themed level
redneck - redneck rampage themed level
daggerfall - daggerfall themed level
descent - descent themed level
mdk - mdk themed level
moonstone - moonstone themed level (4 keys, moonstone etc)
maniac mansion - maniac mansion puzzle level
