You can always set the system time before you start ZDoom ;)
Or maybe there could be a console command to set the in-game time?

No thanks!!

That would give the player more control over the game experience (strongly desired) but it wouldn't allow the author much of any control at all with timing, thus defeating the entire purpose of the feature.

I think this kind of scripting stuff is really best left to the map timer.

You're right, I really need to start speaking my mind a bit more. ;)

Had it not been for the  I wouldn't have said anything, but that emoticon connotes a sense of condescension that I didn't think was really necessary...

Seriously, if you said to someone, "I'd really like to know what time it is, but my watch isn't working," and they said, "Pfft, dude, why don't you just look at your watch, duh?!! What are you, some kind of 'Knucklehead McSpazatron?!" you'd think, "Wow, this guy's a bit of a dickhead..."

I felt it was appropriate. :)

"And now it's worse because I'm repeating everything you say into the microphone?"

Classic stuff. ;)

Cutty, I get all sorts of problems running ZDoom fullscreen. I muchly prefer to run it in a window.

Too bad that's not an option when it comes to OpenGL stuff, at least for me.

The time thing, where you can do certain things at certain times of the day.

I don't know about Animal Crossing but Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond had real-time clocks.

For example; you could only get in to some buildings on wednesdays, and some contests only happened on weekends. Stuff like that.

Oh, Animal Crossing had a real time CALENDAR. You got special stuff on US Holidays, your birthday, it snowed in Winter, that game ROCKED.

Yeah. It really was awesome. Especially the NES games.

And I hated Majora's Mask too.

MM was like.... you can tell Miyamoto wasn't directly involved. His touches just aren't there. But my main gripe was how hard it was just to get to the first dungeon. I mean first you have to get on the raft ride, then you have to get into the Deku Palace, then you have to.... you know what, I don't even remember where the level is now! >_<

Still anyone who programs that kind of stuff into Doom is uh.... getting full of himself- who's actually going to hack his clock and calendar to see all the secrets?

Well, Sonic Robo Blast was based on Legacy, and it had not only a secret graphics change during December to make the game more festive, but a secret Mario level that loaded on New Years Day.
