Contrary to popular belief, we are not all-knowing-all-seeing magical beings!
If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.
We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

It doesn't seem to be working at all. I tried on Manjaro and Pop OS. The "executable as program" option is checked.

I believe this is a known issue.
On Pop OS you can just use the .deb from the website (I believe). On Manjaro you can use the Flatpak. You can use the AUR, but Manjaro doesn't do well with it since it is always 2 weeks out of date, and the AUR assumes a fully updated system.

AppImage builds were discontinued for this reason also. The AppImage builder for whatever reason does not seem to want to pull in the required dependencies so for now I've stopped them until the issue can be addressed.
The portable builds were supposed to address this issue and they pull in a lot more, but they aren't quite fire-tested. It would be helpful to know if they work on those systems.

And let's not forget that AppImages STILL use libfuse 2.9.9. For reference, the libfuse team has long been on 3.0 now.

I ended up using the flatpak version.
