It was for me, the longest using 'dark' theme before the dark blue was added. I'll poke around later for the dark blue theme. But again, CSS is not my strong suit - and I'm still finding things to fix with this one.

Re: Old forums theme?
Hello, I don't know if it has been asked before, but...
Is there any chance to recover the thread image thumbnails that were visible before, in each subforum index?
(In my opinion, this applied global change in phpBB forums has turned out to be a step backwards...)

Yes, because sticking with a cruddy old software that no longer gets security updates, and actively blocks you from installing extremely critical backend software updates because it would break if you did, is a huge, massive step backwards .....Hexereticdoom wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 12:43 pm (In my opinion, this applied global change in phpBB forums has turned out to be a step backwards...)![]()

Re: Old forums theme?
I'm actually very glad to see this thread as I thought of saying something as well, but I was worried I'd be perceived as merely complaining.
The second thing I'm not a fan of is the usage of iconographic buttons - this is something that has become prevalent with the advent of smartphones. For an old-timer (30+), a button with just an icon on it rather than descriptive text means I have to spend time looking for a symbol that represents word rather than an actual word. This is slower for me as the chosen symbol may not be what I would be expecting in my head.
The first reason, and the reason I say this last is that I have some minor eye health issues that have made it such that I struggle to look at Dark Themed anything as the white text causes retina burn. This also happens with anything with repeating lines - for example the window blinds in my apartment. Computer monitors have begun to bother me, especially in the evening, even after turning on Window's Night Mode. And lastly the amount of blue light hurts my eyes too. Now the default forum theme is mostly blue, even when not logged in, which is extremely hard on my eyes. I wear blue-blocking glasses, but this theme is about as hostile to my sight as staring at the sun.
I have actually been distancing myself from the forum of late due to this theme - I can't look at the forum for very long. Low seizure threshold, and extreme sensitivity to blue light - suddenly the ZDoom forum is actively repelling me.

Re: Old forums theme?
Have you tried any of the other installed themes, in your User Control Panel -> Board Preferences? We do have the default SubSilver theme among a couple of others that might be more useful to you.Sarah wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 10:07 amAnd lastly the amount of blue light hurts my eyes too. Re: Old forums theme?
Oh thank you for reminding me of that, now my eyes aren't melting as I type this. But that's only going to apply when I'm logged in, which the vast majority of the time I am not when I stop by, I'm just checking if there's any relevant posts, so I'm stuck with the new blue theme unless I log in - and out of habit that only happens if I am going to post something.wildweasel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 10:28 am Have you tried any of the other installed themes, in your User Control Panel -> Board Preferences? So that's a problem unto itself as I'm not comfortable letting a web browser have my credentials and automatically log me in to any site - I'm still fairly old school in regards to my internet security. And that also means that in order to alleviate my own symptoms I have to take extra steps to use the site.
Is there some way to force a theme change on my end? Chrome accessibility plugin perhaps?

Re: Old forums theme?
Actually yes - if you have the ZDoom forums bookmarked, edit your bookmark to add a ?style=21 to it, for example, index.php?style=21 - this will make the forum use style number 21 (ProSilver) for the duration of your visit. This is also how the old forum's "Mobile Friendly" button worked. It should work regardless of whether you are logged in or not.
If you prefer the brown version, that is style 24.
[edit] Also there's a number of plugins for Chrome that are normally intended to turn websites into "dark mode" versions, but a decent number of them can also be used to simply invert the colors to turn dark websites into "light mode" versions. You might look into those - I, unfortunately, use Firefox, so I can't be a ton of help there.

Re: Old forums theme?
Ooo there we go! I'll take that - that was simple enough to set up and avoids needless plugins. Yes, I'm the weird old person who can't handle dark mode - I really need to get my eyes checked. Thank you WW that's much betterwildweasel wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 10:52 am Actually yes - if you have the ZDoom forums bookmarked, edit your bookmark to add a ?style=21 to it, for example, index.php?style=21 - this will make the forum use style number 21 (ProSilver) for the duration of your visit. Re: Old forums theme?
An ETA for the option to put a post's user avatar on the left, like it used to be with the old forums, is one thing I'm waiting for. Though I guess that's not really about the theme per-se (and I don't want to pester about it since I know there's been a lot of work being done on the forums since the upgrade, and they've said it'll come back).

Re: Old forums theme?
I was mainly curious why a user who just registered and hadn't posted in this thread before was asking about updates.

Also, is it possible to get those thread tags ([Fixed] , [Added], [Not a Bug], etc.) in the development forums back?
