What is Punkwild?
Punkwild is a gameplay overhaul heavily inspired by the likes of Demonsteele and Psychic, where you'll take control of Jazz; a tough-as-nails, wise-cracking punk girl who just had enough of demons.

Spoiler:Key features
So, my name's Jazz Williams, but you can call me Jazz. I'm a drummer in the punk band The Spinning Moths, and let me tell you, I'm not your average chick. I've been called an anarchist, rebel, mercenary, and bounty hunter at some point in my life, but at the end of the day, all I care about is banging on those drums and making some noise.
Now, my childhood wasn't exactly typical. I was born into a doomsday cult called the Cult of Seven, run by my own mother. Yeah, crazy, I know. Instead of teaching us how to do math or read books, my mother taught us how to handle weapons. According to her, the end times were near and we had to be ready to join the Legions of Hell as leaders instead of slaves. Yeah, it sounds like a bunch of bull to me too, but I'll admit shooting pumpkins as a kid was pretty fun.
But here's the thing, cults have too many damn rules and power structures. And to a rebel like me, that's a big no-no. So, I started with harmless pranks to let my freak flag fly, but I always got punished for it. And if I'm gonna get beaten anyway, might as well make it worth it, right? So, I stepped up my game and started some serious rebellion: setting the cult's camp on fire, detonating the grenade stash, and kicking the crap out of some cult enforcers. Of course, that kind of stuff doesn't go over well with an evil cult. So, on my eighteenth birthday, they sacrificed me to their dark overlords. Can you believe it?
I was stuck in hell for who-knows-how-long, enduring all sorts of unspeakable horrors. But I didn't let that break me. I kept my rebellious attitude and strong determination, and eventually, I got my second chance. Some shady corporation opened a gate to hell in their research facility on Phobos, and I made my epic escape. Seriously, the demons themselves are still talking about it.
Once I was free, I needed to make some cash, so I started capturing escaped criminals. But with the legions of hell roaming around, that wasn't much of a career path. So, I joined a mercenary group. We were pretty good at demon disposal, and being a former resident of hell gave me some superhuman abilities, like increased strength and speed. And when I was really pissed off, I could swing a baseball bat with enough force to rip the head off a Baron of Hell. Yeah, I'm a badass.
But of course, nothing lasts forever. My mercenary group got wiped out by some nasty demons, and I was on my own again. So, I decided to enjoy my never-ending youth (another perk of being from hell) and wandered the galaxy. I destroyed some UAC bases, toppled some corrupt governments, and left a trail of broken alcohol bottles and empty cigarette packs wherever I went.
Then one day, I heard music from the heavens. I followed the sound and stumbled upon The Spinning Moths, a punk band that was everything I wanted to be. Their music, their attitude, their clothes - it was all amazing. So, I did what any one-hundred-and-something-year-old with the mind of a young adult would do: I learned how to play the drums. After the drummer had a freak 'accident', I took her place and joined the band.
Months flew by, and I tried my damn best to fit in with the bandmates. For the first time in my life, I actually had genuine friends that weren't involved with guns, blood, or demons. But guess what? The good times never last.
On the day of our first big show, with a crowd of one hundred people, a freaking winged monster swooped down and tore through the audience like it was nothing. Hell on Earth was back, and this time I wasn't ready. My heart shattered as I watched my friends being burnt and devoured alive. My super strength was useless against this horde of demons that flooded the streets, each one sporting the same symbol of the Cult of Seven that I knew all too well. And there was my crazy mother, controlling the toughest, meanest hell-spawn I had ever laid my eyes on.
My blood boiled with rage and vengeance. I stormed to my weapon stash and armed myself to the teeth. It was time to end this demon crap and finally face my mother. I was going to blow her damn face off with a shotgun blast, and nothing was going to stop me.
- High-Speed FPS Action! The revamped dash mechanic allows you to dash through enemies AND projectiles, and also gives you a one-second I-frame. Make full use it, because these demons aint jocking around.
- Bullet Hell! To reinforce the fast-paced style of gameplay, all the hitscanning enemies have been reworked to shoot dodgable tracers, and all projectile enemies have been enhanced one way or another to be deadlier and faster.
- Collect, kill, repeat! Every kill will give you anarchy, and every gibb will give anarchy AND health. Keep moving forward, keep killing, keep collecting!
- A different kind of BFG! Anarchy is used to fuel the all-mighty baseball bat, which can sweep through hordes as if it were a landmower on grass.
- CVars, CVars, CVars... Punkwild has CVars to control almost every of it's aspects. You want to deal more damage or take more damage? CVars! You want to get Anarchy faster? CVars! You don't want Jazz to talk as much or not talk at all? CVars!
- Compatibility with almost every WAD out there! Want to play that cool new megawad but it has new enemies? You can run Punkwild with it almost without issues! Sure, the new enemies will not trigger Jazz's voice lines or be balanced for the custom damage types and resistances, but they'll drop coins!

Spoiler:Changelog
Jarewill for donating the ZScript wizardry that allows for complete compatibility! Thanks a lot!
KeksDose for allowing me to use his awesome dodge script from The Trailblazer.
MartyKirra for giving me nice feedback and allowing the use of his zombie variant sprites, plus the female zombies plus the base code for them all. And being okay with it!
PillowBlaster for letting me nick code from The Trailblazer.
TerminusEst13 for giving me feedback, as minor as it would seem, and helping inspire this mod. Plus, the Anarchy display system would not work without his code.
Xaser for being a major inspiration for this mod and in general.
Wildweasel for letting me use his imp variant sounds and code from ww-doomnukem.
Spoiler:Known Issues
Changelog for current Version 0.7. Full changelog inside the PK3.
- Added a simple gore system.
- Added new sprites for the Baseball Bat.
- Added a new reward for gibbing. Gibbed monsters now drop Health Hearts, which will give you a small health bonus.
- Added a CVAR to change whether or not a pickup is requiered to activate Wild Mode.
- Reworked the Assault Rifle into the Speargun. The Speargun fires slower than the rifle, but it's ammo rips through most enemies, making it perfect for large groups.
- Reworked the Revolvers into the 9mm Pistols, the pistols are as powerful as the revovlers, hold more than double it's ammo and are more accuarate.
- Reworked the Wild Mode activation system, now you need to first pickup the baseball bat itself before using it. This can be changed in the options menu.
- Reworked the dashing system, dashing is now limited to 3 in a row and it takes 3 seconds to recharge, but each dash will give you brief invincibility.
- Reworked the Clever Monster Disguise powerup (Invisibility replacement). It now will fear any monster around you.
- Reworked the Bat Healing System. Instead of healing 45 health flat and taking that amount of Anarcy, it will now heal up to 50 and take anarchy proportionate to the healing done. Cooldown remains the same.
- Reworked the Archvile resurrection. Instead of spawning ghost versions of the monsters once, the Archvile now uses corpses to create Gore Abominations.
- Replaced the Spidermastermind with the Hell Duchess. The Hell Duchess is also a spider-like monster with a rapid firing attack that summons an explosion when up close. Compared to the old Spiderboss, it's overall more dangerouns and fun to play against.
- Replaced the Combat Shotgun for a SPAS 12 type. The SPAS shoots faster and does not need to toggle between fire modes, giving it an overall higher DPS.
- Replaced the Bourbon Soulsphere powerup with the Soda Regenerative Powerup, and made the Soda more powerful.
- Replaced the Party Pack Megashphere with the Bourbon. This is is just a visual change.
- Replaced the Soda Berserk Powerup with the new Vampire Fangs Powerup. Vampire Fangs allow for 50% lifesteal for 45 seconds.
- Replaced the Automatic Riotgun with a custom Explosive Ammo Powerup, which will make all your weapons more powerful and dangerous.
- Increased the attack speed of the Baseball Bat.
- Increased Jazz's base movement speed, this change allows to more easily dodge incoming projectiles.
- Reduced the health of most enemies. This should hopefully speed up gameplay.
- Reduced the ammo obtained from Clips and Used Clips by half.
- Reduced the ammo obtained from Napalm Cannisters and Jerrycans by half.
- Reduced the health obtained from Six Packs by 10.
- Removed the very slight delay between clicking the fire button and the gun actually firing for all guns.
- Fixed an issue that prevented Tortured Spirits from being damaged by other monsters.
- Fixed an issue that made it possible to use the heal from the Baseball Bat while at 100 or more health.
- Fixed a long standing issue that caused audio overlap when spawning and immediately killing an enemy or picking up a weapon.
- Fixed an issue where Devils and Arch-Devils did not light up when attacking.
- Made Cellpacks spawn two spear bundles when spawning near a Speargun or a Diamond Coin otherwise.
- Walking through fire left by the Napalm Launcher will no longer thrust you as an explosion.
- Game HUD will now display collected weapons to avoid confusion.
- Game HUD will now display the dashes left as white dots in the left of the screen, next to the health bar.
- Game HUD has been updated to reflect the new sprite of the bat.
Spoiler:
- As with any mod that adds dashes, you might break some maps while dashing around, so use them with caution.
- Killing with the pistols sometimes spawns health as if the enemy were gibbed.
- The old "You got a pickup" bug is still around.
- Sometimes you will randomly dash, wether you use double-tap or shift dash.
- Sometimes, when you change weapons really fast, you'll shoot randomly.
