Re: Project Cinemassacre
That's right. The BD creator is a cross-community approved immature. He stirs quite some controversy here and outside, from being a basic douche to straight out racist and sexist. The mod he creates, quite cool actually, has attracted a big numbers of fanboys who in positive way some has create multiple BD-based mod ranging from actually better than BD, and to Frankenstein monster of stolen scripts and graphic. In bad way, some of his fans constantly brigade him and approving his attitude...
I know that James and Mike has recently play Brutal Doom, and I am sure they enjoyed it, but why not build an entirely new TC instead, rather than basing it from another mod?
Some good TC or gameplay conversion that you can find on this forum :
- Gloombusters : a non-violent (some monster killing tho) TC where you play as a band of gals fighting against alien parasites who make everyone hateful. Has a good use of very stylistic graphics and 8-bit sounds
- D4D and D4T : D4D is a gameplay mod that tries to recreate the weapon and gameplay of the newest Doom 2016. D4T is lighter alternative focused on greater compatibility and multiplayer.
- Action Doom and Action Doom 2 : a legendary TC that recreate the gameplay of old school platformer and brawler. AD1 is based from Contra, with projectile weapons and one hit kill, while AD2 recreate the brawler game like Double Dragon, with mostly melee focused combat and decaying weapons.
At the end, I'm not trying to stop you from basing the Project Cinemassacre from BD, but reconsider that this can be a new unique mod that different than the other.

Again, nothing is final. Development is prone to change at any given time. Latest testing I did was with PB 3.0, Im using those for gore tests basically at this point. The more involved this project becomes, the more I am realizing it needs to be its own complete entity.

Choice has been made. Its going to be something entirely new. I also had no clue about so much bad press with the dude. I just liked the gore and some other small features that can be done Cinemassacre style. This is exactly why I came here, to get input, find people who want to help me and create something special.

Hello, in the future, if you haven't been replied to yet, could you use the [EDIT] button to add things to your posts instead of posting many times in succession? It keeps things a lot cleaner.

Re: Project Cinemassacre
I'd mention Doom: The Golden Souls as a good example of mixing Doom with classic Nintendo games in aesthetic and gameplay-wise. I'd imagine if you'd replace the "classic Nintendo"-parts with "crappy games from AVGN" and references of the show, you'd hit pretty much exactly what I would expect from AVGN fan game made in Doom.
e: I also agree about not relying other mods when making TC, usually there's much extra stuff to maintain that doesn't necessarily even appear in your mod, or even cause conflicts which might be hard to trace. There are other gore mods besides BD, some of which could be used in conjuction with other mods.

Random Deaths and Decoration 1.52 - http://www.moddb.com/games/doom/addons/ ... n-15-final
Be sure to ask authors before including their mods in yours, or at very least credit them properly.

Re: Project Cinemassacre
Good ideas. But remember, its not just AVGN, anything from the Cinemassacre cannon can be used. It opens up a lot, but AVGN is the main influence as that will make the best design for this IMO, I guess im saying its not just limited to AVGN.
To the moderators, I know I am a trainwreck, I haven't used forums in years and getting back into the swing of things. Appreciate the patience there.
I also appreciate all the input I have received. Def going to be a new TC. The small tiny things I liked from PB or BD can be replicated in a more suiting way that isn't just ripping off someones ripped off work.
This project at first, when I spoke with Mike, "Im gonna add some weapons to brutal doom for you guys to check out" And the more we spoke the more this has evolved into something that is going to be grand and it is VERY important to me that this project be done right.
Also, I noticed a couple times my replies could have come across as me "being dickish" but I assure you, if words on a screen made sound you'd hear the tone in my voice and I am anything but trying to be rude.
So, all that stuff aside, who's comin' with me? lol

Speaking of which, there is also Contra Doom, which *is* Contra in Doom.NantoCodd wrote:AD1 is based from Contra, with projectile weapons and one hit kill

One thing I'd like to see is something like "Anger Meter", which would charge up by taking hits from enemies. When it's filled up, you could release special attack with screen flashing and fullscreen graphic (+audioclip) of James going all "FFFFFUUUUU******KKK!!!", which does something like damage to all enemies within certain radius.

Alright, enough Brutal bashing. Let this thread be about the actual project, please.

Re: Project Cinemassacre
There is a lot of AVGN episodes that you can take inspiration out off.
And BTW if you plan to add a HUB-ish area i good idea is to add a "happy lands" area, the place where the non-shity games live

Re: Project Cinemassacre
I am using sources from Cinemassacre in general, not just AVGN. So there are plenty of sources to pick from. Feel free to give ideas!!!! The AVGN portion is pretty much covered. I am now trying to decide what to use from Cinemassacre in general. I have some things decided already. Thanks for the idea about the HUB. Its a possibility.

Will there be cameo appearances like the Nostalgia Critic?
