I think the Doom monsters don't have genders, they are Hell creatures they are monsters, their only purpose is to torture & destroy, they have teeth and digestive systems for attacking & eating their victims and then disposing of it, but if you notice Barons, Cybers etc don't have sexual organs, because they don't need it, they are not made to reproduce, they are merely killing machines, they have no reason to reproduce, they are spawn of Hell, and there is no 'female' monsters with breasts because they would not require it as they don't reproduce and don't have young to suckle, I think that 'monster' is like another gender, there is male, female animals and humans and then there is monsters, all our rules of our planet don't apply in Hell.
A succubus monster works perfectly and would look like a human female, but that's only because they are made that way to trick human males into falling in love with them and have all the parts that the men would expect.

Re: Female DOOM Monsters
That's a good point, Peter. About the closest thing I can see to monster reproduction aside from the Pain Elemental is the Icon of Sin so it's possible that he's been producing these demons all this time. Chock it up to supernatural demon powers, I guess.

Re: Female DOOM Monsters
Eriance's post ( somehow ) inspired some idea of how spider masterminds are referred to as mothers even if they're basically just brains with faces; similar to those intestine-like materials, there might be patches of brain-like biomass from which most arachnotrons are cultivated from. To guard these patches ( from other demons, probably, considering the pinkies might just plain munch on everything ) the biomass will form larger, more complex forms that act as a matriarch - the spider masterminds. Because they're so much more uncommon for the patches to create and they help oversee the creation of the arachnotrons' living component, it's uncommon for them to be cultivated. In fact, the one faced in Dis could potentially have been the first one removed, probably by its own will due to it seeing opportunity in using the human's teleporters to cause havoc. The others we see could have then followed the first one, or were forcibly cultivated to make use of their durability and size compared to the arachnotrons.
Which makes them not actually female, but rather are called as such by humans because of serving similar roles to human and a decent chunk of other animal mothers.

Re: Female DOOM Monsters
Can I chuck my 2 cents worth in? I think all the Doom monsters are in some way related to humans. For instance, the Cacodemons and Pain Elementals were formed from masses of corpses brought to life by human passion and pain, respectively. And the imps were humans who died and became what they are today. This would explain any human resembalance the monsters display.
So, even if the female Barons (or baronesses) don't actually reproduce, they probably still have rudimentry mammaries of some form. However, the difference between genders isn't nearly as pronounced as it normally is with humans, as the denzines of Hell are just brutal war machines, so any trace of gender-specific behaviour is lost. If there are any really feminine demons, they're probably hidden in the depths of Hell, away from the conflict.

Thanks - haven't read the D2 manual since I was like 12 and have no idea where my copy (if I ever had one) is.Arctangent wrote:Doom 2's manual. Female pronouns and everything.
My own headcanon: the cyberdemon refuses to be identified by something as simplistic and essentialist as "male"; any reference to "lord" is merely a projection of the Doomguy's enslaved, feeble meat-man mind.
(so what Peter Bark said, really. :V)

Re: Female DOOM Monsters
I always figured the Pain Elementals and Lost Souls had more in common with marine animals and the remora eels that cling to them than a mother/children relationship. Like, the Pain Elemental has an internal furnace that keeps spontaneously willing Lost Souls into existence from the chaos of its Hellish energies, and when the Pain Elemental dies its core becomes unstable and spawns a fistful of the little things from a power flux of sorts.
As for Arachnotrons, I figured they were more supposed to be compact knockoffs of the Spider Mastermind than offspring. Similar design DNA, but not ACTUAL DNA. Hell, for that matter, I figured any hellspawn with machine bits grafted on were 'made' rather than 'born', and only certain hellish species (Barons, Hellknights, Imps, Cacos, Pain Elementals, etc.) have anything approximating a normal life cycle or gender, with things like the Spiders and Cyberdemon being more like robots.
I don't think succubi are really DooM's style, honestly. They're a subtle threat, and DooM's bestiary is more interested in ruining your life through old-fashioned superior firepower and numbers. They have more in common with the monsters from the 'Alien' movies than, say, a gumiho of Korean myth.

Re: Female DOOM Monsters
I dunno, there are plenty of female demons and malevolent spirits that aren't succubi-clones:

This is just one of the more fucked-up ones.
