Brutal DooM 19 Movie - "Roar"
It's just my little tribute to the greatest gaming mod in the history...
Hope to see the full release of ver 19 soon.
Thanks Sarge, and id Software for this great video game.
Re: Brutal DooM 19 Movie - "Roar"
The extreme amounts of emergent gameplay that the greatest mod ever made brings to the table are made really obvious thanks to the usage of god mode to avoid all the damage that the smartest AI ever made for Doom would otherwise be dealing to the player, as well as the usage of infinite ammo to avoid the tactical reloads that all the jealous haters (who can't even make a decent mod of their own) complain about. It really reminds me of my childhood days, playing Doom and asking my dad to put in the cheat codes because I could never remember them.
12 out of 10 - the greatest movie of all time just so happens to be made for the greatest mod of all time. An instant classic that will surely breathe new life into the Doom movie community, just as the featured mod did to the Doom mod community. Truly, a modern-day Citizen Kane. Amazing. Would watch again, and again, and again, and again. Three thumbs up.

I understand your point that it's messy.Vaecrius wrote:if BD is this visually noisy with godmode on I'm a bit concerned o_O
Some people like me just want to play god with cheat on though. For me I enjoy the uncensored violence itself.
It's a bit like Skyrim actually. You can play the vanilla game with hardcore mode on, so it would be more challanging, or you use the console menu or funky mods to play god.
I'm not sure what other people think, or Sarge intended this game to be, but I enjoy playing Brutal DooM this way.

Some people don't like using cheats. It's a single player game and I like playing god in my little world.
Death is only an inconvenience.

I can already feel the passive-aggressiveness radiating through my monitor...
That said, good movie. Don't listen to what the others are saying, you play the game how you want to play it, as that's the point of video games. To have fun. I find it cool that brutal doom seems to have it's own separate fan base and has garnered attention from even folks from iD. Good job Mark.

For DooM, I don't really play to get better. It's more like, death restricts my gameplay. For example, if you concern about health you wodndn't be running into a Cyberdemon and pump rockets right in front of his F***IN' face and shout "GO F*** YOURSELF" would ya?Lava Grunt wrote:I find it cool that brutal doom seems to have it's own separate fan base and has garnered attention from even folks from iD. Well, I do seek challange in playing video games. However, such games are usually for multiplayer games (where using cheat is obviously banned too) as Starcraft, DotA or many fighting games. Note that I didn't mention LoL to escape controversy (lol) But for single player games, especially for FPS games, I'd usually use a trainer. It allows me to do fun things. One exception is Devil May Cry series, where I can actually do hardcore gameplay such as clearing all missions without getting any damage, achieve SSS rank etc. Anyway for DooM, I wouldn't put myself in too much stress trying to clear UV level in one hour without dying... or something like that.
For those who argue "new fans to Brutal DooM", I did play vanilla DooM without any addons in the past (like 10 years ago). Well, the original DooM series is like... the dread... the F***IN' dread... that's what I liked. It's not about simple violence, it's about making you feel how lonely you are. Even today I think there are a handful of games that expressed the dread this well. The occult atmosphere, map designs, midi musics and even low res graphics... everything was simply perfect. I don't agree with some poeple that origianl DooM was that violent. it has ideas, like trying to express monsters exploding into tiny gibs etc... but with the lack of technology years ago, it couldn't picture it properly.
Anyway, I think it'd be quite interesting to put myself in crazy challanges (?) like "Not dying". I watched many replays clearing Nightmare on ***, by *** etc, tried to do it myself, ended up: "Screw it". There was something less, something not enough to motivate me to make me play the game that well. I mean, I enjoyed the atmosphere and all that. But that's it. It's not like Devil May Cry: "I watched the combo movie by ***, it's so cool, I wanna do it myself". There were litle that motivated me to play at higher difficulties. Just play the levels, enjoy the dark and satanic atmosphere, period. I had kept playing vanilla DooM series with other wads years ago (Like Icarus, Memento Mori etc...) Even back then some mods were really interesting, especially the massmouth series, but then I stopped playing DooM at all.
It's been about a year now, DooM series come back to me with "Brutal DooM" addon. Words cannot express the amount the awesomeness I found in this mod. Call me a sadist, I'm a big fan of ryona. The modern games are pussies. The dev team wouldn't put any effort to express "Death" in details. For example, Biohazard 2 has more interesting death scenes than any Biohazard series after 4. Maybe because they don't wanna spend budget on unnecessary graphics? Maybe because of the big mafia-like organisation we call "ESRB"? Maybe they fear moms who'd sue violent games? I dunno. The aim of the modern games are simply "target general consumers", "no hardcore", "more profit (DLC)".
Then appears Brutal DooM, not funded (not that I know of, maybe God for gifting him with his talants and enthusiasm), only made by this single being "SGT Mark IV".
It's not even an official game. Honestly, it's an add-on for a game around 20 years ago, but the amount of details to picture "Death" is no theoretically possible for one individual person to accomplish. He created something new.
Well, it had the power to revive a dead game, at least for me. It even motivated me to play the levels in some hardcore methods like "collect triple 100%, not dying etc..."
For the video I just posted, I didn't spend much time, but in the future, who knows? I might put something better.
Summary: Brutal DooM is awesome, I'm a vanilla DooM fan too, I like using cheats, I might put more efforts in the gameplay in future.
I'm not even a native English user. hope I didn't bore you with this long text, with alien ways of expressing English language.

Well, that would do a ton of damage, so yeah, I probably would. Unless it's Brutal Doom, because then I'd just use my patented seven rockets method. Mostly because Brutal Doom punishes using the BFG intelligently. For example, if you concern about health you wodndn't be running into a Cyberdemon and fire BFG right in front of his FUCKIN' face and shout "GO FUCK YOURSELF" would ya?

I'm legitimately wondering if you're a child, they seem to like to use the word "fuckin'" and they also like to put some unf into it.
I dunno, just something I noticed.

Well, thanks for the criticism, didn't notice. Actually I'd better fix. Thanks.Marrub wrote:I'm legitimately wondering if you're a child, they seem to like to use the word "fuckin'" and they also like to put some unf into it.

I ain't a fan of using F*** words myself. I also feel it's lame to watch many youtube comments filled with fudge all the time.
(Internet people... don't know what backgrounds they have)
It's just that English is not my first language to express extreme situations in noble language. Like when I read English texts I notice the word FUCK is bad, but I don't feel it to the heart.
i.e. I wouldn't be much as ashamed as I use a word with similar meaning in my language. My limits. ;_;
Truely sorry about that.
Also, just to clarify, I'm at early 20's. So your first question has proven to be a null.
But as you'll see in the gameplay of the video I posted, I admit that I have this unfiltered, childish part in my soul.
Well, my bad. I lost track on how vanilla DooM work, BFG doesnt inflict any damage to the caster. I was talking about Brutal DooM anyway, hope you get what I intended though.Eric_ wrote:Well, that would do a ton of damage, so yeah, I probably would. PS. The Cyberdemon, that gotta hurt.

Actually, I just strangely noticed that kids use that a lot and I have no idea why.mincartoon wrote:Well, thanks for the criticism, didn't notice. Actually I'd better fix. I don't even know why I brought it up really, just curious I guess.

It's bad. For me I was afflicted by the internet culture, mostly Youtube. CUZ EVERYONE FUCKIN' USES IT. (even look at the top comment of the SEVEN FUCKING ROCKETS video)Marrub wrote:Actually, I just strangely noticed that kids use that a lot and I have no idea why.mincartoon wrote:Well, thanks for the criticism, didn't notice. Guess that's the side effect of learning English in the internet subculture.
We should all read classic literatures like Shakespeare.
