I am not sure you've understood what ECWolf is. You don't need GZDoom....at all. Or the Wolf3D TC, which is a completely different thing. What you need is Wolfenstein 3D, like, the actual game itself. The easiest way to make it work (though not the cleanest) is to dump all your Wolfenstein 3D files into an empty folder, then put ECWolf in there and run that.leejunfan777 wrote:I own the original files for wolf3d
I would like to play it the same way as I use wads in gzdoom
I tried wolf3d TC & ecwolf
but I cant get it to work
anyone can direct me to a tutorial or something like that ?
I get the included error for wof3d tc
The official "ZDoom on Wolfenstein 3D" thread. (aka ECWolf)

You're basically going to get none of that from ECWolf. Wolfenstein never needed mouse look, because there's no reason to look up. What it does offer is better controls, high resolutions, and support for mods.
I think you're probably going to want the TC, not ECWolf.

The Wolf 3D TC is a total conversion. It's a recreation of the Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny games for the [GZ]Doom engine.
ECWolf is a port that runs the original Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny games directly. If you use ECWolf, the only files that are truly necessary for it to work are, in Wolf 3D, the *.WL6 files (AUDIOHED, AUDIOT, GAMEMAPS, MAPHEAD, VGADICT, VGAGRAPH, and VSWAP). The other files are there to run Wolf 3D directly in DOSBox, which is not what you're going to do with ECWolf.
Simply start ECWolf.exe. Since you apparently have Wolf 3D from Steam, it should find all the data it needs directly by looking at the Steam folders.
If you want to play the Wolf3D TC, ask further questions in the its own thread.

But in Wolf 3D itself, yeah, there's no reason. Floor and ceiling are flat and untextured, all enemies are at the same elevation, can't be more simple than that.

There might be a reason to look up and down in ECWolf eventually, if Blzut's experiments with stacking layers and/or functional Rise of the Triad support arrive.wildweasel wrote:Wolfenstein never needed mouse look, because there's no reason to look up.

Even the GZDooM is nothing to do with Wolf3D, but...it seems nobody noticed leejunfan777 still using that nasty outdated GZDooM(v1.8.2)...
leejunfan777, please update your GZDooM to 1.8.10(for no OpenGL 3.x support of graphic cards) or 2.0.05(for latest-level grahpic cards supported OpenGL 3.x & 4.x or higher, that build will crashing/error out if your card doesn't supported).

A few questions about the Android version of ECWolf: does it require custom firmware? Also, how do you install the game files for the Android version? Just drop them in the same folder?
I've recently gotten an Android device, and I'm curious if I can just plop this thing on my SD card and run it.

No you just need to enable installing from third party sources. The location of where to put the data is on the download page. Use 1.3.1 since there's a major regression in Android support in 1.3.2. Hope to have 1.3.3 out soon.

Question for you guys:
Is there a way to compile UWMF Formats? Or can you run it "raw", or uncompiled?

It's parsed raw by ECWolf. Just like UDMF which it is "based" upon.

So you could run it raw, same as, say, the ZSDF? (I know its not supported but just a comparison).

Yes. And actually USDF is partially supported. That's how Noah's quiz is implemented.

Have never played Noah's Ark 3D so that's some good info to know! Thanks. And what are the SD2 and SD3 files that ECWolf for android says is optional? It has my interest piqued.
