Have been diving into Substance Designer a ton this week, you can get some really awesome low-res results from it! I was using Blender before to export AO/normal maps, but this is turning out to be much better and faster.

I've been working on an asset WAD that will allow "fire-and-forget" conversions of vanilla DOOM/DOOM2 levels to Heretic levels. Giving everything from vanilla DOOM some sort of direct equivalent for Heretic style stages, which by default of course has far fewer textures and an enemy roster that doesn't match up well with DOOM's enemy roster.

Most of the textures I've added are from Hexen or similar. But I have created a few brand new textures of my own using real world surface sample pictures I took during various vacations from the last couple of years.

All of these textures are seamless and converted to Heretic's palette. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has usage for them.

Also based on early ROTT. Increased height to standard Doom 128.

Edit of Vostyok's Arcade cabinet from Ashes Afterglow, in Doom-style template format.

Original size version here: https://imgur.com/WFDdTFg

And an example of what can be done with the template:

Credits to Vostyok, which permission was granted to do this. Many Thanks to him.

don't forget to unmirror the small text on the right! it is minor but some weirdos notice things like that.
but how does this work in a zdoom context? does it have to be placed on a 3d model?

In game geometry a-la Ashes: Afterglow.

I ended up expanding on the texture for models however:
