Doom 2 Intermission Map (REVIVED)

Post by Skunk »

CURRENT PROJECT PERCENTAGES:
The Starport (We Have Liftoff!): 100%
The City (Hell Valley): 85%
The Descent (Why are there only five levels?): 100%
The Icon (A Picture Worth 1000 Kills): 10%
The Original (Say Aardwolf!): 5%

You know what, everyone who posted before (except a few negative nancies) really hit home what this project was about. It wasn't about those rude jerks who decided to troll me, especially a moderator of the forum (way to be mature, dude). It was about the rest of the community of awesome people. I shouldn't let these people get me down. Man, if I had just closed the window the other night instead of just flopping into my bed and just being depressed for the rest of the night I probably wouldn't have come back and I'm so glad that I did.

And amazingly enough not only my disapointment in myself for letting dumb internet shit get to me and the fact that I let everyone down fuel my creative juices... I actually completed this map in only a few hours!

It's your reward for being awesome guys. Maybe I will finish this son of a bitch. And if I do, I'm doing it for you guys. Not just for me. For all of us. :D

It looks promising, I specially like hose dark skyscrapers and the sky at the background.

However, I must ask: Will the outer structures resemble the original levels? Because those forms don't ring a bell for me.

Well, no, not really. They're not supposed to. The original Doom levels didn't match up with the intermission pic buildings, and I'm trying to stay in that same style.

So this is the concept for the Starport episode, huh? I'm liking where this is going. :)

I would love to your intermission map interpretation of Wolfenstein and Grosse.

As you can see from this image, what I start out with sometimes isn't what I end up with... I wasn't liking my first attempt at the spaceport, so I made this instead.

It definitely looks better than the first concept, I really like the details put it.

I only have one complaint, it's dark and hard to see certain parts of the map. Usually a Doom intermission map is relatively bright enough so you can see the map in it's entirety.

Brighten it up a little bit and I'd say it's great. :)

I brightened it up; however, the PNG does add some darkness.

I supposed that the "dome" is the starting area (considering there is an entrance there and it's filled with corpses? or is that the starport that is referred to in the game?)?

Fantastic. DooM II has always needed these.

On that note, it always saddened me that no new maps were included with Heretic's 4th and 5th episodes...

Sorry, I'm not a fan of Heretic. That being said, I knocked this baby out in about three days. Making an intermission map isn't hard at all. :)
