How to use the upgrades? Or is it automatically applied? Because I saw a green caliber box in game and cannot pick it up.

If you can't pick it up it's because you already have it. They are automatic. Green boosts your bullet damage.

S_StartSound is a very new function and you may need to make sure you have The Latest Version of GZDoom. We are currently at 4.3.3, if I recall.

I guess there are people still having the exact same problem? This should answer everyone about the error they're getting, though.

So yeah, we highly recommend to update your GZDoom to higher version like 4.3.3. Any versions much below than that is not reliable anymore.

Yes, you are right i am not the same user..... :) though i was having this same problem so i quote the previous user's comment who also said the same and i will download the latest GZDoom as per your suggestions

I'm trying to spawn in the upgrade boxes via console, but I can't find their data names. what do I do?

Or you can directly add one to your inventory.

for some reason, when I use forksphere on the treesagent a second time and every time after that for the remainder of gzdoom/lzdoom running, I can't fly. this doesn't affect the other 2 classes at all. what's going on?
