Last Request

Post by Shadow Scythe »

Earth hasn't seen humans in a very long time. But, we certainly haven't forgotten about them. We've always looked up to humans. Though we now manufacture ourselves, they were the ones who originally gave us life. We all remember the last thing they wanted of us, before they left for other worlds... their last request. They asked that we care for the Earth.

Some of us have been arguing over exactly what that means...

Okay! So some of you already saw some of the work that we've done in making a doom mod together. For everyone else I can briefly explain a couple of the things we've mentioned, and a few things that should be new to everyone. Essentially, Last Request is going to be a doom mod about robots on post-human Earth! Main things that will make this game original will be the scribbley neat art style (pictured below!) and a gameplay style that will revolve much more around indirect fighting and strategy than your typical doom mod.

Ah, I don't think we're quite ready to put out a wad yet! I've still got lots of graphics to make (textures, weapons, explosions, HUD maybe...), and also it probably wouldn't hurt for us to have an actual level in there, eh?

We'll probably need help with things like levels and music and ACS later on! But for now, we probably shouldn't worry about it until we have more of our own things in. Ideas are welcome though!

From the sound of it, this seems more like an exploratory story FPS with multiple branches.

Is it so?

Explanitory story FPS? Most definitely.

Multiple branches? Wasn't considered but it's early enough into production we can consider it! :3:

Oh yes! I always liked story driven wads. I have to say I like the art design, very different from what we're used to. :D I'm looking forward for a release!

I said exploratory. :p

But yeah, this seems like the perfect concept for a branch-based story wad (choose to industrialize or FLOWER POWER)

Sorry, I was tired when I read that. XD

Indeed, true enough! We'll see if that'll go in or not with what we do have planned.

It's definitely got my interest.

The story reminds me a bit of a certain Disney movie, though... :P

This looks amazing!
If you've ever seen paper mario, it would seem that it has pretty modern graphics. Well, doom doesn't. The reason is because doom is a raycasting game. Now, trying to make it look real is almost impossible. But, if you try to make it cartoony what happens? This happens. A very visually appealing first person game. Will it be causal, or fast paced? You should try to add minigames to it or something. Anyways, call me crazy, but I can't wait until this is released. The story isn't too bad either :D

Hah, I had no idea this stuff would get so much reaction so early. Thanks all!!

Uh, I hadn't really considered making multiple branches to follow here. I think it's something we might try, though I kind of want to get a better idea of how much work this is gonna be overall first. Don't want to slow down mid production due to biting off more than I can chew!

As for minigames... MR. SCOOTER SURVIVALLLL!

...well, maybe.

I would be lying if I said there was no inspiration from wall-e in this game

The cameras in that shot look like that guy above from Planet 51. Movie was trash though.

Push.

This project hasn't been forgotten! There just hasn't been much progress. Still not much, in fact.

However, I do have a picture of a new enemy and an environment tweak. :)
