No. Even the first time I saw the screenshots I felt like I had already seem them several times before. That's not really important, though. All it means is that any screenshots Tormentor posts are personally useless. Other people still enjoy them and still want to know what he's up to, so theres no reason for him not to post them.

I'm in agreement, though. He's pretty good with detail, so it would be nice if he would flex the creative muscle a bit more with regards to theme and presentation.

Hm... I am not sure about this, I mean, most of my creations are very different from each other and I try to do something new all the time. I mean, TCOTD, huge urban city part with different themes here and there, Ultimate TNT's Episode 4, the comets, the apocalyptical start, then Sapphire, the space station floating above a planet and now this Facing Worlds asteroid thingie with two towers and the nebulaes... I don't feel like my maps aren't that creative in general :) And conc. detail: Well, that's my mapping style, I most likely won't change anything about as long as me and many other persons are pleased with that :) So I doubt that my "detail style" has something to do with the fact that you aren't impressed by the visuals. I'm sure if you would see this from another mapper, you'd be more impressed :P

The endless bashing of Tormentor's mapping style is getting a little old. He cares about making maps that look good; what exactly is wrong with that? You can argue all you want that its the gameplay that matters and not the detail, but seeing as how none of you has actually played these maps yet, I'm gonna call bullshit on that one.

I actually think there are always different styles for his maps, like he mentioned. The more or less dungeon style on TNT 1, the snowy base style of TNT 3, the space station "Sapphire" etc. Actually, I never thought that they're the same.

Anyway, I quite like the screenshots, maybe I should make something for Sabbat Matyr II when I'm ready for the ZDCCP, which will be quite soon, as I thought we have to use the ZDoom limitations for SM II. :laff:

I think what Torm is trying to archive is something that no one (like me) has seen before, aside from Dead Simple, which every Doomer must know ;)

[Edit]
I have to agree with HotWax, if no one actually played these maps, how would he know that they're crap? Nobody knows.

I wasn't necessarily bashing, I've played some of his maps, found them okay (Particularly enjoyed TNT most, but it's more of a nostalgia thing.), but I was just commenting, after seeing quite a few screenshots of his projects, it just kinda has that tiring effect, seeing the same sort of detailing styles. Now Torm isn't exactly known much for gameplay, as much as detailing and speedmapping, but I'm just saying, he ought to try some smaller, different approaches to detailing his maps, it might turn out better. Doesn't hurt to try new things.

Can you be more precise? Maybe even some screenshots? I just don't get it right now...

It depends on if someone likes good detail, like me. If someone has an eye for detail, he will like these maps Torm makes. Gameplay for me is nothing with a nice, good detailed map, something that catches your view for at least one second. This detail should make you stay stunned in front of your monitor. The only way to break this effect is by placing a "Cyber Demon" right on this place, without the player letting notice this. This would completely destroy the gameplay. Have you ever seen a Cyber Demon where something is what completely catches your view in any of his maps? No? Heh.

On the most maps I've played I started in an army of imps. That would not be really good for gameplay, but on a somehow the users said the mapper was a genius! Hmmm, why would Tormentor's maps be crap if you don't start in the middle of a Cyber Demon army? Is this lacking gameplay? Do you think it's funny to start in an area like that just to die, over and over again? I never seen any maps from Torm where you start *without any support* in a group of enemies. *But TNTLE...* Just don't complain about TNT LE. You started with enough ammo and support (a Shotgun, which is surely enough to take out the first enemies). Is there anything wrong with a map if you start with a Shotgun? Or if you don't start in an army? Heh.

Gameplay is something where you have yet so much ammo / health to proceed. That means you have to survive with the given ammunition and health value. It must be fun, not like *SEIZURE!!!! IN A HOLE FULL OF IMPSSS!!!*! The infinite bashing is pointless *not meaning Blade Nightflame, more or less the people which are jealous.* Yet, I always have enough ammunition and health to survive in his maps. Others say that they can't survive with the ammunition / health given, but my playstyle on a somehow is not like a pro. =/ Hmmmmm, do I hear some jealous people in the comments? Heh.

I think Tormentor's maps are good in both categories: Gameplay and mapping detail. But that's my opinion.

So why do I think that they're good? Well, well, well.
You never know what happens next, that's the key. Not like you get from one room to another with tons of enemies and have some nuclear strikes from behind. I quite think that these maps don't use a *GO INTO THIS HOLE AND FIGHT SATAN!!!* plot. The maps should have a perfect balance between detail and gameplay. I don't like maps which are detailed but have no gameplay, nor I like maps with gameplay but without detail. Does anything from these both options hit his maps? I would say a definite *NO!*

So, that's my opinion of his maps. Anyone else?

Your post came right when I wrote it =/ I more or less mean the ones which get aggressive, say that his maps are crap. They're just jealous and can't do better.

...I'm... confused... Very, very, very irritated =P

...So you said you like his style, but you're trying to be funny... You know, it's very hard to do this if you have the ":(" smily in the post =/

Ah... well, let's get back on topic and stop bashing his mapping style.
