Util for Saving Videos in Suitable Format?

Post by Enjay »

Sorry if this has been asked before but all the logical search terms I can think of generate lots of hits and very few are actually about this specific topic.

Can anyone recommend a tool that can save videos in a suitable format for use with GZDoom? ( https://zdoom.org/wiki/Video_format )

I have several video editing programs and converters on my computer and I can output videos in a couple of dozen or more different formats, but none of the ones supported by GZDoom.

I understand why the formats that GZDoom were picked, but they do not seem to be well supported by editing tools.

I am aware of Rad Video tools (that can output SMK files) but the 8 bit nature of those files is a downside.

I'd rather use a format where the sound and video are in the same file.

So, what would be a good choice?

This was a recent topic about encoding IVF cutscenes with FFMPEG: viewtopic.php?p=1228695&hilit=video#p1228695 It is the only video format in the list of supported formats that supports more than 8 bits of color.
