World War II ended in 1945. Now try and take a wild guess on what year the AK-47 was manufactured.

The "AK47" also looks nothing like an AK47. He should have called it an MP40, but I'm guessing he didn't know very much about WWII guns.

And also, somebody mentioned that there weren't Berettas in Germany.

I beg to differ. The game view is too low because it doesn't account for the status bar, so 50% of your view is the roof. Also said status bar feels too shoddy compared to the original.

The map is probably the only good thing about it, I find.

I don't notice any problem with the game view, or the status bar (it's the same size as the original, are you talking about the weapon sprites' perspective?). It also has a small automap and better rendering than the original (you can see farther), that made it worth playing for me.

EDIT - also, in this version, the enemies can't shoot through each other.

In Doom and the original DOS version, the game view is shifted upwards so the center of the game view is the center of the viewing area, not the center of the screen. This port doesn't do that.

Anyway
I still can't believe they kept the animation style the same

I think that's a good thing--not sure if that's what you meant or the opposite.

I think it is a good thing. I noticed it's a little smoother, but that ain't bad! My only gripe is Beavis sounds a bit different (especially when yelling) but I guess it's good considering Mike Judge hasn't done Beavis' voice for more than 10 years.
