Hmm why is the BFG room blocked with bars? Don't think I've missed anything as I'm following my usual route.

Edit: Owait, missed a switch.

I didn't think playing a level in silence, just to have the track at the very end for the (quite short) boss fight did the track justice. Of course this current arrangement doesn't seem to be helping much :?

Perhaps I should have made the map in Doom as Hexen format, but a year ago (when I started) I didn't even know what Hexen format was, so it's all a bit late now.

If I'd had another track, or known of a way to change music in game with Doom as Doom format, or even both, I'd have done something a bit more, but TBH, I'd really had enough of this map when I was asking for testers and a musician, and just wanted it doen and out the way. Even if this map does flop, it's not exactly a blemish on a mapping career like mine, is it?

Shame about that really, but hopefully the map itself makes up for my poor implementation of your track.

EDIT: The BFG room is opened by pressing the switch right at the end of the techbase area (where hte archvile was). The reason you would have forgotten to press the switch is most likely because the monsters warp in when you walk near the switch, instead of as you press it.

Well one thing for sure is that a metal track really won't fit the map (seeing as though you have to play it for 50 minutes), maybe an atmospheric dark ambient track of such, something that's similar to Doom's music, I don't know.

Well, if you happen to be playing a shuffle with a large library of metal music, the map plays very well with metal music, which is why I thought one really good metal track would cut it. The fact that you're playing 50+ minutes of horde demolishing insanity complements metal, IMO, but unfortunately I tend to tolerate my own work a lot better than most, even if I'm the one most likely to say something bad about it.

Haha, that's the first time that I saw sucks in the par time :P

The mastermind didn't wake up.

Plays much better with the extra rockets and monster teleporters.

As for the music, go through some HR2 mids, I'm sure you'll find one that fits.

I decided that if you don't get sucks for a play time, you must be better (read quicker) than most :)

Even after all I did, the mastermind didn't come through? I suppose it's more luck than judgement whether it does come through or not then...

It definitely can come through, but I suppose teleporting something that size into a tight tunnel is always a bit touch and go...

See, I do listen to my testers ;)

Unfortunately, I've already uploaded the wad to the archives, so I fear it may be too late for sorting out the music.

Any complaints about the boss fight? Did it even stand out from the rest of the wad for you? I found it to be a noticeable difference, but nothing extraodinary from the rest of the level, and I'm under the impression that I won't be the only one.

Heh, I don't pay much attention to custom monsters, I just kill them :P The teleport-on-pain move was somewhat interesting, but the fight wasn't too challenging.

I took a closer look at the mastermind. That sure is a weird way to make a monster teleporter :P.

It's the fbase6 way!

All the monster teleporters in that map (barring one or two where it didn't work) are done that way, as it uses some more advanced features (for the fun of it(tm)) and have the added bonus of shock warpins.

Negative side of this being that it's one off, and not particularly ideal for the mastermind.

Scripting from now on though, so no need to worry about my odd ideas concerning monster warp-ins.

Oh, and about the boss monster - You finding it an average fight doesn't surprise me; I'm pretty likely to win with the given weaponry. (Wouldn't want you to use any cell weapons on it now, would I?) :P
