In other words, you want him to ignore the entirety of your post? Where did you get those "requirements" from anyway?

From id software. http://www.idsoftware.com/games/doom/do ... ion=sysreq.

The one I showed accidently was Ultimate Doom. I thought the Doom series (besides Doom 3) had the same requirements.

This may seem like an obvious statement, but ZDoom is not Doom. Therefore, the two are going to have different system requirements.

And you do realize the entire list you posted was Windows-directed, right? That's not going to help anybody trying to run it on a Mac.

Wouldn't Zdoom need higher system requirements, since it's more advanced than Doom?

And...
Yes, I do realize it was Windows directed (most of it) that is why I did say "ignore the Windows part". So, by ignoring the windows part, the system requirements that are left is:
-8 MB RAM
-20MB of uncompressed hard disk space
-386 processor operating at a minimum of 33MHz or any Pentium® /Athlon® processors
When I posted it, I was assuming this was for all computers.

Not really since most macs don't have x86 processors.

I wouldn't think so, not after the years of optimizations that the community has put into Doom since the source release, if you're just running Doom-compatible wads.

Macs and PCs have very different architecture, therefore posting the specs for PC doesn't do any good for Mac users.

Sheesh!

Did you copy in a zdoom.ini or let ZDoom create a default one for you?

(Grasping at straws here. When it's been reported to work on an intel mac, and works on my PPC mac, I have no idea why these iwads won't be recognized...)

I had the same problem as you, James007. What I did to get it to work was manually add

Code: Select all

PATH=/~/Library/Application Support/ZDoom/
to [IWADSearch.Directories] in zdoom.ini, if I remember correctly. Try that.

Thanks for that, I'll keep that in mind.

ZDoom requires more memory to run. When running Zdoom with Doom2 at 320x200 the task manager reports more than 10MB memory use on occasion. Taking into consideration what other applications and the system itself need I'd say you won't be able to do much with less than 32 MB of memory.
