That's literally the whole point of armor, even in real life. You get less killed by bullets. For the record, HD's armor is already far more effective than even modern military body armor. Bullets be scary good at killing.

If the answers to these questions are yes, then... you need help. You seriously need help. The person who created Hideous Destructor created it to hurt you.

Sounds like I need to remind Icarus of a little bit called tactics.

Spoiler:
And fwiw, Icarus looks like knew what he was doing (except he doesn't seem to be aware of the stop-drop-spin or the fire mode button) - the video is clearly intended to show his progression at learning how to use the Boss rifle.

Also, 7:53 onwards I literally actually choked on my coffee laughing :laff:

That bit at the end is some of the best use of the Boss rifle I've seen in some time!

So many complaints about the scopes... and none of them actually pointing anything out while the replies seem to just guess... -_- Would be nice to get some constructive feedback if there's anything I could actually do (keywords "I could") or if they're just complaining it's not a full zoom-in like xyz fps.

Correction: GGG-senpai has not yet noticed us, I am just blind, sleep-deprived, and confused Icarus with GGG.

I mean, the part about bullets be good at killing is (semi)true, getting shot is a poor circumstance, but honestly the hideous destructor armor is actually much less effective than actual real life body armor. Which is fine for gameplay purposes. I mean I can't speak for the effectiveness of the fantasy cartridges like the 7.76 from the liberator or the 4.26 in the ZM66. But modern NIJ Level III vests are rated to stop .308/7.62 NATO within 10 meters for several hits without penetration. A lot of the time in the game it seems just about everything will penetrate green armor as of the old 3 armor versions and black would generally stop most shots. But I was wondering more about if there was a specific way that the game handles what does and doesn't penetrate vests, like is it a chance based thing or is it just a flat "this can penetrate, this can't" system?

Basically...

For all non-bullet stuff it's random.

For bullet stuff (damage type "SmallArms0" through 3) it's slightly random, with 3 pretty much always going through green.

The bullets themselves determine their damage type on impact, based on speed, mass and an unfortunately abstracted "extra damage" variable that I'm really going to have to change if I'm going to distinguish hitting really hard from expanding on impact (the 4.26mm is pretty dang good at both).

I'm pretty sure it's that last part. The scopes really are like no other game out there, and I'll admit it took me a long time to get used to them. Even now I prefer to play on "manual" or whatever it is where I have to hold [use] to enable the scope view. That said, it's a fascinatingly unique and useful system that saves precious interface screw-age. The whole point of backup sights is being able to quickly switch between them for different scenarios. Games that include them tend to have a separate button to switch between the two. HD simply makes both available at once, and it's really great in my opinion. Once less button, one less thing to remember.

It is. Hold crouch, and press jump while mounted on the ladder, and it should fall to your feet. You can do it at any point on the ladder, so careful you don't fall too far when you do it.

Yeah, the scope system does actually make sense once you get the hang of it. It took me awhile to figure out how to use the sight on top, but once I did I was able to shoot at all ranges pretty effectively. I'd say the only downside is the zoomed view is pretty big so sometimes it takes up more of the screen than I'd like. The only way I could really think to improve it somehow would be to keep the basic sight available at all times like the other weapons, but hit another key for the scoped view to switch between them.
