If you're going to suggest an idea, make sure that it's something that's coherent and without any sort of pretentious bullshit. Saying "IF I WERE YOU, I'D PUT IN MY IDEAS. MY IDEAS ARE REVOLUTIONARY! I WANT THEM IN THIS MOD NO MATTER WHAT" is extremely infantile. And having a childish retort as a result is even worse, especially one that attempts on refuting a suggestion. I didn't do that, I simply said that the ideas aren't in-depth and on-topic enough, and that more work should be put into them to make them interesting. As johnny said, cool ideas =/= cool results. I could've told him to fuck himself on the first reply. I wish I did by now. If you're going to criticize things, prepare yourself to be criticized. As the Chinese culture already taught people over and over again, don't do things to others that you don't want yourself.zeero wrote:Dude, chill out. He actually just gave his 2 cents, and you basically shot him down. "This is boring, that is boring!" What kind of an attitude is that?gabrieloup wrote:So, giving a suggestion on top of a request (which isn't the same as giving someone an idea), having a dumb retort and responding accordingly to it is being an asshole? Oh boy, the ZDoom community is full of tricks. What's next, I wonder.zeero wrote:Actually, gabrieloup, YOU are acting like an asshole, not Kagur.
Also, you haven't even been in these forums for a year, and you're acting like you own the place. Using capital letters, telling him to get a life. Have some respect.

You've been warned, Gabriel. I'd like to ask that you leave the thread for now.

Ah, I know what you think of, that spell which makes enemies levitate suspended in air for short time. But I actually meant this.Kagur wrote: And no, such a weapon does not exist in Guncaster. Having a projectile that lift enemies temporarily is not what I would call a proper gravity gun beam. I'm talking literally a beam that carries the enemy and allows you to slam them around.

I would recommend banning gabrieloup actually. He seems to be giving indications of bi-polar autism. In Canada, signs are placed near neighborhoods for warning people about such individuals. Since no such mechanism to address his mental disorder exists here, there should be rules implemented to isolate such people from the community.
Its very good, but not as sophisticated as I envisioned. Perhaps if this was being done with a tractor beam, it would really make it that much more fun to use.Ah, I know what you think of, that spell which makes enemies levitate suspended in air for short time. But I actually meant this.

Pretty sure the mods know what they are doing.Kagur wrote:I would recommend banning gabrieloup actually. He seems to be giving indications of bi-polar autism. Hey Jonny, good to see you're back and ready to commence with monkey business! Just wanted to throw some ideas for you for your project and some perspective.
I think its pretty plain to gather from anyone that i've taken an interest in this mod, simply because i feel that BDJ kept BD civil and had a great gameplay balance. It also was the first BD mod to have grenades and melee combos down to a science, to which I was very pleased.
I would simply like to say that i'd like to see more from you and I think you're just the right guy to do it. You seem to have a good sense for balance and playability so I feel that you've probably already considered what i'm about to suggest, but ill say it anyway.
Before i do, if you haven't, try Project Brutality! IT adds alot of great stuff and ultimately is fairly fun compared to vanilla brutal doom.
Here's what I like and don't like in a nutshell:
+random monster replacement
+more interesting guns with neat functions
-very schizophrenic. too many guns, not very well balanced, lots of clutter.
-Monsters can get very strong very quick to the point that even vanilla doom2 can be crazy on medium at the later levels.
Basically, I'd like to see more interesting guns in the form of progressional upgrades to existing guns, rather than just adding a bunch of guns.
Pistols, as an example, you start out with a beretta; suppose you can upgrade to the glock i made for a faster firing higher cap gun, or a heavier hitting revolver or Desert eagle gun if you want more power? So instead of just adding abunch of guns, how about choosing an upgrade every level or two at the start of the next map? or a pickup that upgrades a specific gun? I'd like to see something like this; not a necessity, but it'd be nice to have a cleaner, streamlined BD mod in the mix that does things right.
Monsters... So I LOVE brutal doom, but there's really only a few monsters in it. I end up playing hard doom, or my personal favorite, colorful hell, and choosing a weaponset that works well with it. Project brutality did pretty well in adding new monsters, but the balance is pretty off. There are also probably way too many variants for its own Good.
If Brutal doom had just 2 variants for each monster, i'd be happy; even just one would be ok. Harder game modes would spawn more hard monsters randomly on a level or whatever.
In summary, It'd be nice if there was some progressional upgrades and difficulty in monsters.
On the matter of powerups:
Double damage from Project Brutality was a blast (no pun intended)
Reflective bullets from blood was fun, and this can be done already with missiles, not sure about bullets.
someone meantioned Akimbo as a powerup, I actually loved that from blood. I hated vanilla BD for having that standard, but as a powerup i think it'd be pretty sweet.
Bullet time?: slower time would be helpful in some circumstances: skulltag has it implemented partially, but there is a freeze first.
Going Ape powerup? seriously, i would just love to go king cong and smash things to bits with gorilla punches. oh and throwing barrels! In project brutality you can become a revenant, so an ape seems like a feasible idea. making the arms might be difficult, otherwise it seems fairly easy.
Feel free to hit me up for some help if you need any, not sure what I can do but if i can help out i'm open to trying.

This is all completely irrelevant to the more obvious issue of him just plain acting like a jerk. If this sort of thing continues to happen (knowing what I know, this isn't unlikely), that ban might happen sooner rather than later, but solely on his actual behavior, not because of an alleged mental disorder.Kagur wrote:I would recommend banning gabrieloup actually. Gentlemen gentlemen! I like that you've all got a fire in your belly about BDJ, but civil discourse is the name of the game here. These brainstorms are helpful for me when my creativity tanks are running low, so all ideas no matter how ridiculous or unfeasible (well, within reason) are welcome. I think I'm gonna make a video when I get home from work to give you guys a better idea of the kinds of ideas I'm after. As far as weapons go, I'm not explicitly adding any more, but I'm open to temporary types of weapons. You'll see what I mean when you see the vidya.

oh, and heres a super rough gorilla arm to get you or someone else started on the going ape powerup thing, if it ever happens. this is about 15 minutes of work so no sweat made on it, if you like the concept i can continue to develop it
on monsters and upgrades... if there are new monsters there are new body parts
more mayhem, more temporary weapons.

Re: BDJ - but the titlemap is the best part
Yeah, that's a thinly veiled flame bait if I have ever seen one, and right after Weasel told you to shut up.Sorry I fell into a troll. Won't happen again.
Just goes to show that you are as sharp as a ball, and no doubt, suffering from a mental illness.
(I don't care if he's already been warned. Be the better man and don't insult him. You've been warned. -ww)
