It's easy to assume you cancelled the whole project when you blanked the entirety of the first post instead of just the portion of it that triggered this whole fiasco.hfc2x wrote:At least one person got it right.Project Dark Fox wrote:I think that was simply a "I'm taking it back", guys.

Or maybe because the whole first post was entirely dedicated to this whole fiasco? Who do you think I am to kill the project at the first sign of hassle? Sodaholic?

Not from what I recall, but then again, I can't check what it said. Because you blanked it.

Re: [WIP] Doom: Evil Unleashed
Oh well, it is really difficult to base things off of the Doom Bible or even Doom RPG! I wouldn't even know what to do about beta/alpha concepts. Congrats for the work. I guess the reason why id didn't go thru with the narrative is probably due to the costs and matter of implementation. I guess this project is written proof of Murphy's laws. lol

This is exactly why there is a rule about blanking out your posts!twinkieman93 wrote:Not from what I recall, but then again, I can't check what it said. Because you blanked it.

Re: [WIP] Doom: Evil Unleashed
But seriously, when you nuke the OP, say that it's a "terrible idea", and replace [WIP] with [???], it's pretty easy to think that you cancelled it.
Well, glad to see that this is not the case. Still looking forward to playing whenever the release is (but I'm patient, so take your time).

Well, seems like the mod hit a snag. AGAIN. And this time treading into illegal territory. How much more nonsense does this thing have to go through before it's actually completed?

Re: [WIP] Doom: Evil Unleashed
First of all, the "illegal territory" crap ended a loooooooooooooooong time ago, when he shut down the crowdfunding attempt a couple of days after he started. Sodaholic wants it shut down because of that crowdfunding situation. Why he still cares long after he ended it, I don't know, but I guess the mod is either dead or going to take a very, very long time... relative to previous development time.Robomorons wrote:Well, seems like the mod hit a snag. Doom Bible is the new MordethRobomorons wrote:How much more nonsense does this thing have to go through before it's actually completed?

Re: [WIP] Doom: Evil Unleashed
Every single Doom Bible or Doom Alpha mod project has failed so far. Like Mordeth, it's not anything new.IMX wrote:Doom Bible is the new Mordeth
Sodaholic edited the [wiki=Doom: Evil Unleashed (hfc2x)]project page on the wiki[/wiki], and this was reverted. I'm not sure how to handle the situation yet. If it seems like an edit warring in the making, I'll protect the page.

Re: [WIP] Doom: Evil Unleashed
Wait a sec, I don't get it. If Sodaholic is not EU's current leader (no pun intended), and hfc2x decided not to do that crowd-funding stuff - then why the first person is so irritated?
I do not wish to see this project stopped. Especially because of someone's rash decision to stop everything.

Re: [WIP] Doom: Evil Unleashed
Sodaholic was - at some point - the project's leader. However, I noticed this in the Talk page for the project on ZDoom's wiki:
Considering that he has only now decided - after one small mistake - to return and reassert his leadership over a project that, two years ago, he wanted nothing more to do with? Not cool. This is eerily reminiscent of what happened with Skulltag back in the day. Also this from his Doomworld post:ZDoom Wiki/Doom: Evil Unleashed/Talk page wrote:Please remove all references to me in this project. Thanks. Sodaholic 04:55, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
About the only things he can legally claim credit to are probably the computer voices and the code. The rest is so deeply rooted in the original, id Software-copyrighted assets that demanding that they be pulled is pretty much meaningless, since they can be very easily recreated from the id assets.Sodaholic wrote:If you're going to continue the project (though I SERIOUSLY do not want you to), you must remove my own assets. These include:
*The completely gray 0.5 rifle.
*The alpha/final shotgun hybrid.
*The computer voices (like "ground floor" and stuff)
*My modified 0.4 maps (if any remain in the project)
*Whatever decorate coding I did.
*Who knows what else, I can't remember as it's been years.

Gez please do protect the page and WW thanks for pointing those things out.
It really is weird how cursed doom bible projects are.
This has gotten way out of hand.
