Not pointing fingers, but occasionally I wonder if certain people use this thread as an excuse to change their avatars more frequently. =P

naah, I do so at every other forum I frequent, too, not just this one (changing my avatar rather often, I mean).wildweasel wrote:Not pointing fingers, but occasionally I wonder if certain people use this thread as an excuse to change their avatars more frequently. =P

Re: Explain Your Avatar
I say that changing avatars frequently adds chaos to the system. There's no point in showing off how many attention-grabbing <100x100px images you can find; it's better to just find an avatar you like (or at least one that matches your username) and stick with it for a while. It gives your account more of an identity when there's a recognizable "face" to your name, too.
Some argue that those who change their avatars constantly suffer from a certain developmental disorder whose name eludes me. *cough*

I have to agree on that.wildweasel wrote:Not pointing fingers, but occasionally I wonder if certain people use this thread as an excuse to change their avatars more frequently. =P
Funny thing is that in all the time I've been in this forum, I changed the avatar only once, and that was to put the one I have now

Re: Explain Your Avatar
I think the only time when I change my avatar often is when I just can't seem to find one that works good. Once I find a good one though, it typically lasts for quite a while (I've used my IMP avatar for over two years, I think)

Re: Explain Your Avatar
Sure, my avatar tends to shift around a lot, but most of the time it follows a consistent theme and/or identity so that it doesn't throw people off (too badly). My last few avatars have been Rachel in one way, shape or form.

Re: Explain Your Avatar
I tend to change my avatar every so often, but this one came about after Nosehair said that the sprite set I'm currently working on looked a bit like Simon Pegg, so I thought, "why not?"
As for "user-identity", mine generally tend to be some sort of modified Doom sprite. In fact, I can only think of one exception.

For the most part, my avatar is usually a box or a can of something.

Every time you mention "Rachel" I instantly think of Locke's dead love interest (bearing no actual knowledge of the character you actually feature)...Project Dark Fox wrote:My last few avatars have been Rachel in one way, shape or form.
brb making script to remap PDF's avatar into Rachel's sprite
