Always puzzled me too. It is either a candle of some sort, a napkin holder or cutlery.

Updated the object sprite sheet to include space for the missing stuff, three bottom rows belong to Spear of Destiny:

I think it's a napkin holder.

I think so too actually. From what I can tell this is meant to be a dining table, so that or cutlery would probably be the most practical thing. But, if a 128x128 version were to be made, we have a lot more room for detail so numerous things could be placed on the table.

EDIT: And even though the majority of the game takes place in a castle, there is no shortage of electricity as evident by all the lamps and the lack of lighting variation so I would vote for napkin or flag holder as opposed to candles. Other than maybe the chandelier (could be a electric variation), there are no candles to be found. I kind of like the idea of those tiny flags.

Excellent work - kudos to everyone involved! I don't think I can help much, but if there's anything I can add, I'll let you know.

I still have and use candles on my dinning room table and I have electricity

Honestly, we can make it what ever we want it to be. Maybe @Fox66 can make some variations with different table ornaments to see what each looks like and judge from there.

Yeah, they look like napkin holders to me as well. Maybe because the limit of sprites implemented into the game, but there were no more variants of a table w/chairs, only a simple round table without chairs. I remember I made several variants of the "table w/chairs", where various things are on top of the table. Also, Spear Resurrection an Spear: End of Destiny uses more such tables with bottles, glasses, candles etc. on top.
I still have the original table w/chairs modifications if Fox666 would need'em. In fact, I made tons of furniture for Wolf, by pixeling in WOLFEDIT, and it worked out pretty well. Alas, WOLFEDIT couldn't be used for palettes other than the original Wolf3D.

Your work is just awesome so far, I like it very much! Damn, you even made the "AARDWOLF" sign! The top of the floor lamp should be ovoid, and one of the wells has a drowning Hitler (maybe) in it, but apart from them, they're awesome! Finally the ammo clips don't look like tiny cash registers :D

What I wondered was, what are those plates of tasty dinner made of. I could recognize a chicken leg, but the rest was a bit blurry. Also I couldn't decide for the extra life bubbles. What are they, why are they look like christmas ornaments, how can it give 25 ammo and such.

The plates look like a classic "meat and two veg" meal--chicken leg, potatoes, and greens.

This is a little embarrassing, but the AARDWOLF was someones avatar that I shamelessly ripped many, many years ago and I've since forgotten and lost who this person is. If anybody knows, let me know.

There are a lot of slight differences here and there, but I personally don't mind this too much as long as it follows the same basic idea. The suit of armour for instance looks a lot different, but much better than either the original 64x64 or the 128x128 port versions while still retaining some of their style.

This is another one of those arcade throw-backs. 1-Ups, or extra lives, is a staple in old arcade games. It is not a realistic item and can not be viewed as such. Similar to the powerup orbs in DOOM but more arcade-y. DOOM was originally planned to also have arcade elements, but this was scrapped to make it more "modern".

I sort of made my own tweaks to the Knight suit. mainly gave him a red shield, recolored him cyan, and gave him a shadow along with some overall polish. It could still use a little bit here and there.

Hey, that's pretty good. You think you could make one variant with the eagle insignia on it but with the red background? I've always been fond of that detail, and shields usually (pretty much always) had some kind of insignia or pattern on them.

Made variations with both black and red symbols. The symbol probably lost some detailing due to a little downsizing I had to do to fit onto the new background.

Looks ok to me, you can clearly see that it's the image of an eagle. That giant empty red space on the Wolf3D suit of armour has always bothered me. Good work.

Those armour sprites are fantastic, I'm really loving the increased detail on them!
