Could it be... could it be because the realm forum is perceived to be the official forum for that event?

Oh God it's HORRIBLE! D:
And yet I love it anyway!

edit: Oh, also, I have a question on the rules. Not just for the contest, but for the Beastiary in general; I haven't seen anything on this exact subject, so...
If a monster's graphics are only recolors, and not using anything from outside of the original game's palette, does it still have to use its own graphic files?
For example, let's say I made a Baron variant with a DECORATE translation of, say, "112:127=96:111", which would give it green fluids/hand-flames. Would you REALLY need to manually change it in each image frame and save them as seperate PNG files, or would the DECORATE translation be acceptable?
Because I have a few neat monsters lying around that I could touch up a bit, but I'm not going to bother if I'm gonna have to recolor each and every frame by hand. :stuppor:

Yeah, sometimes it's easier to create decent recolours using translations rather than actually editing the sprites. I think recolours are simply considered too boring to be worth adding.

You know I was planning on making a Catharsi variant by utilising Skulltag's green Slyor sprites and applying a khaki translation (because this will provide a khaki recolour that will look decent in software mode) I got away with this with the segway zombie (he's khaki in-game, yet shown as green on the Beastiery)

Translations are acceptable (I did one for the SSG Zombie, so it was actually bloody), but make a recolored sprite for the preview, if nothing else.

Generic recolors are usually pretty bland, unfortunately, though. I hope they're interesting. :D

Info:
Name: Machinegun ZSpecOps
Difficulty: Medium
Connections: None
Summon: ZSpecOpsMachinegun
Melee: No
Distance: Hitscan
Type: Human, Undead
Added States: No

Credits:
Decorate: Ghastly_dragon
GLDefs: Ghastly_dragon
Sprites: Id Software
Sprite Edit: Xim, Vegeta, Ghastly_dragon
Sounds: Id Software

Description:
Stands for Zombified Special-Operations (elite versions of ZSec (Zombified Security) ). I definitely plan on making more variants. Shotgun and Railgun coming soon, hopefully before the contest ends. After that, I'll do Plasma Rifle and Flamethrower variants.

Also, this is quite possibly the most complex monster yet coded, with 5 seperate AI modes that it cycles through depending on its situation. I've always hated relying on A_Chase for the monster's AI. Definitely look through the decorate before you judge. :D

Holy shit.

...Actually, I've had the idea to make a more "dynamic" monster along those lines, but I never got around to it. Probably wouldn't be as good as this guy, though.
