Thanks, works great. So does anyone know if it's possible to compile for amd64?

As said in the "x86_64 bug" thread, no, at least not natively, since fmod.org does not supply a native x86_64 library.

Not to speak of non-x86, for which there is not even the potential for i386-emulation mode for the fmod libs. (exception is ia64, but it has its own problems.)

(I always knew FMOD is evil...)

FMOD isn't evil. But don't expect an old version of the library to be ported to new platforms - especially when they probably require more extensive rewrites due to the change to the long data type. Windows 64 bit was probably just a simple recompile.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to 4.0 - if it wouldn't necessitate a complete rewrite of the interface... :?

Name something with the same set of features and ease of use that is both free and readily available for all platforms. My guess is that you can't.

Sound libraries are generally a complete nightmare with regards to compatibility and portability. FMOD is clearly the best option available at the moment.

A lot of programs seem to use SDL_sound, or OpenAL, to name two. For mod music, libmikmod is sometimes hooked up.

Don't forget to thank Graf and Grubber too. Most of the stuff we have now wouldn't be there if it wasn't for them.

Thanks for naming two libraries I'd never use - and I have my reasons for that.

Mikmod can't play crap. It sucks even more than fmod. It has trouble with every one of my favorite songs.

/me is a BASSMOD junkie.

Okay, here's a question I've been meaning to ask since 2.1.0 came out: Is there some kind of CHANGELOG somewhere that I can look at so I actually know what's different in this version? As of right now I have no earthly idea, aside from things like crouching and pk3 support.
