this is like a new definiton of epicness. very great use of gzdooms features and definitly an original wad. its one of the first wads i've seen that uses reverbs. and you used them very well, i especially loved it in that secret area you swim up to with the hellions. the reverb in that area really made me think of underground tunnels with alot of water in.

the use of dynamic lighting and scripts was very neat, i liked the ceiling light effects and the nukage fog looked really good :)

the idea of having a big hydroponics growing area in a moon base is very nice, and is not what you see in pretty much any other doom wad. the area with the loads of 3D walkways in that "greenroom" was really well made and cool, made me think of the hydroponics area in Dead space.

from the screens i thought "this dosnt look like e2m4 at all" but you managed to keep the layout very much like the original, which is always good with remakes.

well, you could ofcourse work on some texture alignment, having less cutoff bricks and other stuff. theres also some texturing i didnt like, like the use of SILVER1(or whatever that texture is called) was used quite alot and in places i didnt think it fit that good.

but otherwise. GJ, i DEFINITLY want to see more projects by you, as this definitly goes up top on my list of best GZDoom wads.

Dude... use your mind?

I meant after Doom 3 came we all expect to be dark metalaic abandoned base full of zombies, dark atmopshere.. but this Wad goes for a different feel which we'd all expect more doom 3 atmosphere but we get a whole new one and I love it :)

Wow... Oh my god... This map is so kickass! I never thought that the lame e2m4 level (well... IMO it was very boring level) could end up being so awesome. The whole level design is awesome it really made me feel that I was in a research facility instead of a maze, the hydroponics section is my favorite part, I never seen so much vegetation in a Doom map before and I love it. :D Congratulations man, this remake is the shit.

Well, several guys (whose opinions I value) have remarked that this is a great level, so I may actually take it for a spin!

The detail looks incredible, and I especially like the Park area. Not nearly enough flora in DooM. :)

Yeah, this looks more like the SOURCE engine.
It looks purely amazing, you should be proud of yourself.

I just played this map, and for anyone interested I have a fair chunk of (largely positive) feedback to offer!

As for architecture: W O W ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Really, I have nothing to add on this part other than to say that I agree in full with what just about everyone else said. This is perhaps the most detailed, best looking map EVER. And to the above, no missing textures for me.

There was a bit of slowdown on my machine but the only place where I really noticed it was in the area with the switch to the teleportation labs. Might, and I mean might, trim just a touch of detail out of that section - on one hand it looks REALLY good but on the other hand I have a fairly strong computer so some may find this section nearly unplayable.

Gameplay is where I might change a few things, but it's not bad at all! For one, particularly the first half seemed a touch easy - so might make it a touch harder. I played on normal skill.

Also the one thing I never liked so much with E2M4 (particularly the first half) was the amount of unnecessary to visit area. I was a touch disappointed that it was largely preserved in this remake. I wouldn't recommend making every area necessary, but the small change I would recommend would be to force the player to use the slime tunnels to get back after the blue key pick up, and make the slime damaging enough that the rad suit nearby is pretty much a necessity. In the second half I might make the garden area have a necessary switch simply on the fact that it is such an awesome addition to the map and would be a shame if ANYONE passed it up by accident.

But the map (unlike some other stuff with super high-end architecture) played fine overall!, and I'd be interested still on seeing of some others may agree with me on some of those change recommendations above, and if so maybe they should be implemented and another release made (and it sure deserves to go into /idgames sometime soon!). We'll see. And on a particularly positive note, the "dream section" with the boss at the end was a wonderful addition - the map wouldn't be quite the same without it!

My score is a solid 9/10, minimum, perhaps even a 9.5. As I said it might be personal taste but for me if those tweaks were made on difficulty and progression, I'd give this masterpiece a 10! That's right, a TEN! And of course, this IS getting nominated for a cacoward! Really, really good work overall!

Trooper: Are you playing with doom2.wad? (Despite it being a remake of a map from the original Doom, doom.wad is not the IWAD needed to play.)
