I guess the underlying point here is that it doesn't matter. Though if that is the case, the entire point of this thread may not matter eitherinsightguy wrote:As some one who personifies everyone by their avatar, thanks for ruining my immersion guys
I'll be honest: from the picture, I can't really tell if randy is a he or she.........Vaecrius wrote:Still trying to process the notion that Randy has just somehow revealed, with minimal prompting, evidence of meatspace persona.

Re: The Selfie Thread
Personally, I think randi is a she considering that apparently randi doesn't like being addressed as 'mister'.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: The Selfie Thread
randi is randi, case closed.
I would take better selfies, but first beard must go.

Cali looks just like his "cool shades" avatar! =D
Okay last picture from me in this thread because I don't want to clog up this thread. XD I just saw the conversation about hair bangs and felt like showing the time I had bangs during my "scene" days in 2010 (I guess I didn't age well in the past 4 years haha)... it was fun but a hassle to have haha

Re: The Selfie Thread
Oh wow! Randi, you look awesome!
Oh, and to answer your question Trance.
I used to be KraiggoWaffles. I had Randi change my name a while back to reflect my identity shift of sorts.
As for a beautiful selfie of myself, I unfortunately haven't got one of those. I will take one, once I unpack my webcam again.
Still, neat to see what alot of people look like. [that beard is wild, Wildweasel]

I actually didn't know many transgender folk are in this community.Trance wrote:There seems to me to be a significant number of transgendered individuals in the ZDoom community. I've always wondered why that is. Is it simply a reflection of the increasing numbers of transgendered people across the entire internet, or is there something about Doom or ZDoom in particular? Did the presence of one or two transgendered people attract more to the community?

Re: The Selfie Thread
i don't think there's "that" many transgender people here. i think it's more that this community isn't nearly as indicting against that kind of stuff here, so people, eventually (like me), feel more comfortable sharing those details here. i guess i, or someone else before me, may have started a trend where they tell that their gender identity is out of the norm, and when people aren't reacting as harshly against it, more people share those details about themselves. it might just feel like it's many because that stuff tends to stick out more from the crowd.
for the record, i don't think i'm transgender, per se. at least not the literal definition. i dunno if it's called anything specific, but i just feel comfortable being referred to as both.

For myself...it's complicated...bad enough with the way I am trying to explain feelings as it is...throwing other things into the mix just makes my head hurt..

Re: The Selfie Thread
From my 5-min research, the term you are looking for is either genderfluid (identifies between male and female, switches from time to time) or Bigender (identifies as both at the same time) though it seems bigender is the more prevalent term (from what i'm seeing)Viscra Maelstrom wrote:I dunno if it's called anything specific, but i just feel comfortable being referred to as both.

Personally IMO, there are only 2 genders, and the only need for it is to tell whether you have a rod or an oven, and that's it, nothing else.
Re: The Selfie Thread
Well no, there is a distinction between one's sex, which is a physical, biological property, and their gender, which is much more abstract and nebulous. But I suppose a discussion of this magnitude would warrant its own thread, so I won't delve any further.

Re: The Selfie Thread
bigender sounds just about right. i don't "switch" between the two of them, at least it feels like a wrong description to attribute to me. identifying as both is what i do.insightguy wrote:From my 5-min research, the term you are looking for is either genderfluid (identifies between male and female, switches from time to time) or Bigender (identifies as both at the same time) though it seems bigender is the more prevalent term (from what i'm seeing)Viscra Maelstrom wrote:I dunno if it's called anything specific, but i just feel comfortable being referred to as both.

also, you're confusing someone's sex with someone's gender, like Trance just said, and i said earlier on in the thread. gender can mean a lot of things, in society it's a sort of construct (which is rather limited and also seems to confuse a person's sex with their gender), while to a person it could be anything. to me it's simply a non-problem, or at least it doesn't bother me that much.
