Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
If possible, submit the file to Kaspersky for review. I suspect heuristics are at fault; if they review it personally, there's a chance they may add it to the exceptions list in future definition files.
Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
Done! I'll edit this post in the future on its status.
Hopefully something gets resolved so I don't have to disable Kaspersky to update this everytime if it's clean. Maybe even MaxED could figure out a workaround or an in-depth explaination to the cause of this problem while we're waiting. Whichever comes first, will come first.

What path did you enter?unRyker wrote:The path is not of a legal form.
1. Currently only you is affected.unRyker wrote:Maybe even MaxED could figure out a workaround or an in-depth explaination to the cause of this problem while we're waiting.
2. Unless you buy me the antivirus you are using, I cant even TEST this (I'm using ESET Smart Security).

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
In most cases you can go into quarantine and tell it to release the file again and tell it not to scan it anymore
a few programs decide that if it does not know the program (few people has used it) then it flags it as unsafe..

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
Whoops, I'm an idiot. There was no logical reasoning for me to select 'Engine with no name' but that's what was causing the error. I just caught myself doing that. There is no path defined there.
I'm sorry but I have no knowledge of C#/C++. I am truly considering learning it in the future but right now is inconvenient timing. I'm just trying to let you know about what's happened and I'm looking for a solution from anywhere or anyone. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was taking you for granted there.MaxED wrote:3. I'm thinking about doing that.camaxide wrote:In most cases you can go into quarantine and tell it to release the file again and tell it not to scan it anymore.

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
The Updater.exe which comes with r2716 runs without problem

updating r2716 to r2720 and starting the editor when done.
However, as I also run Kaspersky the Updater.exe is flagged and deleted.
After disabling Anti_Virus I was able to run Updater.exe but then Windows10 gave this message:

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
When antivirus detect a "generic" trojan, it means they haven't detected a virus, they have just detected some bits of code that looks kind of like the kind of code that viruses use.
And that can include a lot of totally innocuous stuff. Self-modifying code, compression, attempting to connect to an Internet server that's not whitelisted by the antivirus, all these things and more trigger "this might be a trojan" alarms. The last category in particular will make pretty much any software with an autoupdater suspicious to zealous antivirus -- it's a program that is attempting to download and then run another program, that's pretty much a trojan, OMG!

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
I can understand that, but the odd thing is that Kaspersky never complained when GZDoom Builder got updated before- it's probably something in the source code that got changed or Kaspersky made a mistake. It's even denying the Builder.exe itself from accessing a specific area of the DRD website to extract a new update package right now. Edit: It looks like it's the download link to the Updater zip file as mentioned earlier.
That looks like it could be requiring administrator permissions? Run as Administrator didn't work?Kappes Buur wrote:After disabling Anti_Virus I did run Updater.exe and Windows10 gave this message...

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
For some reason, GZDoom Builder auto-updater won't work for me if invoked from within Builder itself. I start Builder and see a window popping up which tells me that a new update is available. I click on the "Update" button, and then GZDoom Builder simply closes and nothing happens. Sometimes I hear a sound usually produced by a Windows error dialog popping up, but I see no dialog. Starting Updater.exe manually works perfectly. This has happened at least 3 or 4 times for me, last time today when trying to update to version R2720.
Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
This should be already fixed. Unless you have Kaspersky running that is.

I have MSSE. Let's see if it'll fail again in this version when a new update is out.MaxED wrote:This should be already fixed. Unless you have Kaspersky running that is.
[Edit] Also, I'm running Windows 7.
Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
I fixed it.
However, I tried every single solution MaxEd and Camaxide said. However, 3 days after they told me to do it because i didn't see the posts for a little bit...
none of them worked btw
A fatal mistake was not telling what version build i was using. From memory, it was something like R4537.
The solution: updating to the latest build.
Good lord, I'm an idiot
It's weird, in the earliest build, it was the other way around, where only Zandronum ACS Script would appear in Zandronum modes, and only Zdoom ACS Script would appear in Zdoom/GZDoom mode.

Re: GZDoom Builder 2.3
I had r2723 installed and used it several times, but all of sudden I get this
Then I deleted all of r2723 and ran updater.exe from r2720 and now I get this
Spoiler:which gave me a fair amount of trouble to return to a useable Windows 10.

It's only triggering heuristics on the scan, which means it is likely safe.
Will need someone with an actual virus scanner to confirm, though, please. (It comes up clean, for me, using Windows Defender)
Nevertheless - MaxED - are you using any sort of compressors or EXE encryptors?

No. Also, scanning R2723 exe doesn't detect anything on my side...Eruanna wrote:are you using any sort of compressors or EXE encryptors?
