complete immunity to all explosions

Yeah, exactly.
I mean, I'm not completely opposed to it, I'll buff it if people can convince me it needs it, but you're gonna have to work for it, heh.

Never mind how the Tactical Armor is, in my humble opinion, any armor with higher-than-normal (ergo, the resistance is significantly higher than the others) bullet resistance is automatically preferred above all else for me. This is why I think among other things, the Ballistic Shield and Armor, the Solo Operative Suit, and especially the Shielded Armor are king. Also, Security variants of armor are all pretty good too.

Besides that, does anyone here have a favorite armor or kind of armor?

I blame Yholl for introducing me to splash damage immunity. Blowing myself up is one of the top 5 reasons why I die in Doom and... and... OH GOD GIMME THAT TACTICAL ARMOR! I'm wearing it, right? RIGHT? AHAHAHAHAH! BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
ded

If anything, maybe give the tac armor set a slight movement speed boost. [/shrug]

Well I prefer if it had at least some 10% protection otherwise the Armour has deliberate weakness against attacks at the expense of blast protection, ecm and speed.

One of these are already available to two of the classes.

Also talking about explosions, the Torgue Blast Shield gives you immunity to its own explosions but has an immense jump to the explosion (Cyberdemons get explosive farts) and the leg explosion looks powrful but neither are they that powerful nor they really give the blast which may allow you to perform kick jumping.

Bulletproof vest and/or ballistic vest. Dodge everything, no-sell anything that can hit you.

anything with bullet resistance. some fire resistance is good too, if only because it makes the Nightmare Arch-Vile hilariously ineffective, but on tough nuts like Urania, i definitely want to shield myself from the hitscanners as much as possible. the Ballistic Shield, on some mapsets, can be absolutely invaluable because the only thing you need to worry about are projectiles (arch-viles can be devastating though). also, Hungries can't do jack shit against you. otherwise, high protection value for me. i find it gets myself the least murdered in most circumstances.

but i'll bite though; next time i see Tactical Armor, i'll go ahead and wear it, see if it helps me anything. but probably not on Urania. those chaingunners are scawy.

Ancient Aliens, surprisingly. At first you might think that it sucks to lose your inventory very time you enter a new episode, but the rate at which you tend to pick up all kinds of stuff in the entire megawad more than makes up for it. I annihilated the final episode (on skill 2, though, because 3 and 4 are fucking insane) with a Demolitionist with Nanomachic Tristar Blaster and the Cerberus armor set.

Playing through D64 Consolation Prize was great, there were more mod packs there than on any other map set I've played. I got a full arsenal of top assemblies as the Technician! Other than that I like going through Slade maps, it just seems right with this mod somehow.

Eternal Doom
Equinox
Community Chest 3+(1 and 2 have some odd actor conflicts, and on some maps you can just insta-gib at the start due to barrel fuckery)
Requiem
1994 TU
Honestly, pretty much any mapset that isn't a slaughter wad. Depending on the monsters that spawn, it will bring even mighty gaming rigs down to toaster levels if you play on maps with around 1200+monsters,(especially for maps that spawn Nightmare Elementals and Machine Elementals.) AV is quite notorious for it in my eyes.

I've enjoyed Zone 300. Nice and compact for a quick game.

Early monster replacements can be a real issue for ammo sometimes though.
