I've just beaten map 2 and am taking a break (the maps are pretty long, and my headset starts to hurt!), and so far I'm enjoying every minute of it! The intro was also badass! I really like how recognizable E1 areas are included, even though the general map layout is quite different. The atmosphere is a mixture of E1 but also something else, which I like. Gameplay is great so far, the new monsters are fun - I particularly like the charging horned demons. I think map 1 had too many health packs at the beginning, could probably take away a medikit and move another medikit to the later parts. Also too much armor, I keep finding green armors while I'm already full on armor (playing on HMP). The first level also needs more secrets! The second level had a grand total of 9, which was great! I managed to find 4 of them. Didn't find any in map 1.
So far my only regret is not locating the chaingun in the second map until after I had found the exit and was only scouting about for secrets (I managed to get the soulsphere). The detailing is also astounding, my favourite bits was a big room in the first map (I think) with a wondrous computer metal construction thing in the ceiling and the dark sideway near the beginning of level 1 with the scrolling hellskin texture. I love those textures when used well.
