I suggest just having a series of "episodes", i.e. sets of levels with the same - or at least a similar - theme. For one level to be brick 'n' metal, the next Doom 2 tech, then E2-style, then Doom 2 city, then E4-style, etc as f.ex the NDCP does, utterly destroys the feel of immersion IMHO.

If it's linear it should at least have smooth transitions.

Maybe get a load of submissions (get mappers to sign up for a level, that must fit a certain theme) and afterwards, get the people who's levels are before the next transmission to edit their endings for continuity. Or divide it up into totally different episodes, like Simplicity did.

I like the episodes idea. I seriously think that combining that with the WRW would be a good idea.

I like wildweasel's idea, myself. Dunno, I just enjoy playing mission-based wads.
