If polymost is added, I might actually be able to stand mouselook!

Hmmm, would Polymost be a step forward to 3d floors? I know randy has said many times it is not going to happen, will Polymost make any easier?

SomethingCompletly different: With polymost, maybie a tilt view could be made for looking around corners to check for monsters

Don't expect too much of Polymost. The source release doesn't even have texture support for polymost so it is nowhere near finished.

If the next version has polymost, would that mean that stuff in BUILD games are available in Doom (like moving sectors)?

No. Polymost is just a renderer. The underlying engine is still the same.

So we're moving away from the software renderer, but that's roughly it. (In terms of polymost)

Will software rendering still be an option? Playing without to for me feels...weird...looking all the way up and down is cool and all, but will it look like OpenGL or anything?

So in effect, the general player will notice the full up/down perspective as the only change from 2.0.x to 2.1?
And polymost is still software rendered, right?

AFAIK Polymost would be software rendered. What I'm wondering is....

Code: Select all

No. Polymost is just a renderer. The underlying engine is still the same.
would that make decals possible on the floor possible[Seeings its a change in the render]? Just a thought.

Umm, what he's saying is that the game will be the same, with the notable exception of how stuff looks.

The only difference I can see between the original renderer and polymost is polymost has perfect perspective. Definately cool.

You can tilt, look fully up/down and you can look left and right (dur).

You now have perspective upwards and downwards, rather than just into the distance.

Can't wait :D
