Then explain your reasoning, because simply contradicting someone doesn't amount to a very good argument.

Because I play Doom for what it is at the core, not what ZDoom or any other port has added to it.

Actually you do fail it. I have a 13" TV with Antenna connected by, yes coaxial connection. Has a built in VCR too. The DVD player I have hooked up is there soley because they're built into PlayStation 2's. I don't plan on changing any of this until the TV goes out or I get married and need a bigger TV in my living room, whichever comes first. And having more than 5 channels is very overated, and a TiVo a peice of techno bling.

And this has nothing to do with Doom. My beliefs about TV and Doom are completely seperate.

Ignore the fact that all that stuff costs money - if you had a choice between your 13" TV, and a brand new plasma TV bearing all the features that your current TV has and more reliability to boot, which would you pick?

Your comparison still fails it.

I refuse to speak to you if you insist on nitpicking over trivial things.

My current TV. Flat out, if I don't use it I don't want it.

I don't care. He will obviously never get it through his thick skull that some people don't consider ZDoom to be vastly superior to vanilla, cause I certainly don't, at least not in areas that are important to me.

If you hate ZDoom's new stuff so much, why are you here? Go play Doom95.

No thanks, I'd rather play vanilla or PrBoom. You've missed it completely.

I'd also like to know how did you come up with that 'hate' crap?

What I do hate is when ridiculous fanboys compare vanilla to an old-and-busted TV set.

[off-topic]Jesus, you guys argue about the most idiotic things. Seriously, Vanilla Doom is fun because it brings back old memories, but if somebody likes Zdoom more, or thinks that it is better, that's their opinion, and they're entitled to it. And the same is true in the converse of that statement. I, personally, like Doom's ease of editing, and Zdoom's excellent use of the engine. It's like arguing about which flavor of ice cream you like better. It doesn't matter what you think is good, it's your goddamn opinion. I can't do anything about all the fighting going on, and I sure as hell don't want to have to. But, come on, the creator of this topic asked a simple question and it's turned, once again, into a flamewar. If it's locked, it's not his fault, and that's not fair.[/offtopic]

I like both Zdoom .98 ATM, and GZDoom, whichever version is out at the time.

No offense, I understand your point as per Doom, but if you could get a TV 10 times as better for free why wouldn't you take it?

All it takes are some memories to be tied into the original thing, and nobody's gonna want to give it up. Hell, I still have ZipGenius around on my drive and keep the latest installer around even though I don't use it anymore. Besides, just because something's old doesn't mean you throw it away. Geesh, wasn't there a TNG episode about this? QUIT TELLING SCOTTY TO RETIRE!

I'd keep the old TV around even if I got the new one unless I didn't have space for the old one. There will always be a need for that TV eventaully, if not by me then someone else. Don't get me wrong, I'd take the free TV...
