"Retired" is probably not the proper word to use (I'd meant to change that and missed it over in the second draft, WHOOPS), since she finished her service and moved on with life. Either way, she's in her mid-20s, likely 27.

A little old for an anime protagonist, but military service takes a while--eight years over here, though my research couldn't find a lot of consistent reports about what service time was over in South Korea.
While she is happily a pastiche of shounen heroes, "teenager and a master of everything" is definitely one of the cliches I wanted to shy away from.

Also, is she the girl in that faux dating simulator you posted?

^ Given that the OP gives her name as Hae-Lin and the in-game sprite (Sayaka stand-in notwithstanding, where did you find that Sayaka sprite anyway?), er, yeah. The only thing that's changed is the hair color.

Hey, I honestly thought she was still a schoolgirl, due to the uniform and youthfulness. There aren't some anime cliches you can't shy away from if you're going to do a shonen homage, after all.

So, am I crazy, or is Hae-Lin a chef? Because I swear her uniform is giving me some weird Under Siege vibes.

(Incidentally, I'm kind of interested in what might happen should she happen upon one of my OCs, but I'm sure nobody cares about that.)

Sayaka sprite is by Doomshogun. The sprite set in particular can be found in his most recent Zandronum version of Rady'sClass, which elements of this mod are derived from.

Just tested the latest version on github, heres a bit of input.

*the new special side attack special effect, where it does no damage til sheathed is cool, but you should still be able to spam it a little. No longer can you do several side slashes at once to cut down a boss easily, as you need to sheath it everytime. Maybe have the effect cancel if you attack more than once?
*Upper cut new bind is great, but would be nice if you didnt need to use it from the "ready" state, cause then you can't use it as rapidly with the sheath as you can with a gun, and because it doesn't blend well with a flurry of blows. Also, anyway can you also make a reflected shot also have multiplied damage?

Close. Her father was a chef, which is where she gets her love of food from. She's picked up a few tips and tricks from him, too.
(Also I wouldn't mind, your dudes and dudettes are cool)

The sprite (as mentioned) is by Doom667Shogun and is from the Japanese mod "Doom Radys Classes". It's pretty neat, and the dude behind it is cool.
It's not terribly accurate to her look, though--one of the reasons v0.75 is taking a while to come out is because I really want actual proper player sprites for her, and I'm waiting for the artist to finish. Still, once she's finished, I'll keep Sayaka in as a secret skin for posterity's sake.

1: The side special should functionally be the same--the sheathing is with any special with the Kharon by itself, and all of the sheathing frames should have A_WeaponReady calls on them. If there's a moment where it can't be cancelled out of, then that's a glitch. Can you elaborate, please?
2: It can also be done from Hold state or post alt-fire state. I'll see if I can make it done after a normal slash, though. It's not possible to my awareness to be able to modify a reflected projectile's propeties though, sorry.

IN THE MEANTIME here have a little thing:

One feature I'm working on at the moment is a points and score system--just about every single action you do (cutting down enemies, picking up souls, chopping up decorations) will give you a nice chunk of points to add onto throughout your entire adventure. It's a slightly variable system--the higher your combo meter, the more points killing and cutting up dudes do, while gunning enemies down is always a flat amount. The base system is in and done, and at the moment I'm trying to see if I can do bonuses, like finishing a level without taking damage giving more points.

While it's entirely vestigial and doesn't serve any major purpose, I think it's pretty fun to carve through a few maps and end up with a score in the millions. For those that don't care for a massive ten-digit number hanging in their HUD, a simple ds_cl_noscore will take it off.

Alright so as for the special attacks, its an issue of if you kill smaller things when you are using it to try to kill a larger thing (ie a cyber-demon or demon lord w.e thing). While you are right, its only when the sheath is equipped, it would be nice to be able to interrupt it to attack with a second, or third special....cause what if im fighting a demonlord and using the sheath to keep myself from getting hit, but the special attacks are slowed down because a zombie got caught in the attack too? Sure I could just switch to the pistol for faster specials but it would be nice to have the option to interrupt this if I need. just saying.

As for the uppercut, its the fact it must be fired from the "ready" stance as you said (sword in the sheath, or gun aimed). While the delay is hardly noticeable with guns, it still prevents, say, 4 rapid slashes and an uppercut as a combo, since you need to wait till you are back in ready mode. But its made much worse with the sheath since the sheath takes over twice as long to "ready". So that same idea, of 4 rapid slashes and an uppercut is even less possible, cause you need to do 4 hits, wait.....wait....sheath it...then uppercut. Don't get me wrong its a huge improvement, but there's room to make it a bit more responsive. If it could be made to attack just like the normal strikes, ie, right after a slash, that would be nice, but I don't know how possible this is. And this seems even more irritating when the sheath is supposed to be the melee focused weapon, yet one of your melee attacks is weaker using it... seriously, try spamming uppercut with a gun out, then with the sheath. Sheath is half speed. I know its meant to be an opener, but since it can also reflect now, I feel its a gripe with a reason.

On a side note....there's something....INCREDIBLY satisfying about tossing a zombie up and then hammering him back down.....Feels almost like serving a ball. Except the ball explodes into blood and guts. Could be interesting if you made this an actual mechanic like turning launched zombies / imps into flying gib missiles when uppercutting / using the hammer. Or making the uppercut effect other monsters still, like the sorcerer cacodemon replacements temporarily having their robes thrown up, exposing heart patterned boxers or something goofy.

Hey Terminus...

It says in the description that the Kharon is Jung's only infernal weapon. I played through the second episode of Doom, The Shores Of Hell, and found this icy weapon in the middle of a huge purple pentagram that just appeared out of nowhere. Isn't that another infernal weapon?

Also, what are "arrogant weapons"?

The weapon you picked up was, ironically an arrogant weapon. arrogant weapons randomly replace other weapons, and are IIRC the freeze ray and throwing knives (not sure the official names)

This is probably going to sound like I'm dense, but I'm really not sure what you're saying. As far as I'm aware, the animation is cancel-able--there's nothing preventing you from just slashing again and then using a special once more to chain numerous ones in a row.
I recorded a webm for clarification. Is this the behavior you're referring to?

Ahahahaha, I like the sound of this. I'm not sure how feasible it is, but I'll experiment around with it and see what can be done.

I really want to like this, I really do, but there a couple SERIOUS turnoffs for me so far with this:

Right now, as the mod is setup, you have to really be killing nonstop WITH THE KHARON, don't even bother with using the guns, to get access to a lot of the benefits that will keep you alive. Because of this, slaughter maps are really the only way to take full advantage of this mod, and I really do not like playing slaughter maps because I like to go slow and methodical with my playing. With the mod as its setup, with so much emphasis on use of the Kharon, playing 'normal', non-slaughter maps is only enjoyable with 'infinite soul meter' turned on, and I am NOT doing that for reasons of game principle. This leads into the next point.

The health token system. I now do not like this one bit because with you being forced to use the Kharon in order to reap souls to power all the special abilities and build up the upper-righthand meter, this means of course you simply cannot take a whole lot of punishment before your dead. Since guns kills do not give souls, that means death is very likely since you gotta hack and slash to build up souls and also then not willing to use the guns to not lose potential souls.

I noticed in previous videos that you did put in an option in development for souls from gun kills and DooM-style health. I and maybe a few others, may really appreciate it if you made those options available NOW, if as a standalone pack if needed, then the guns won't be completely useless, in my opinon, and your character can take a bit more punishment while trying to fill up the soul meter, when playing on NON-SLAUGHTER normal maps.
