Forum rules
The Projects forums are only for projects. If you are asking questions about a project, either find that project's thread, or start a thread in the General section instead.

Got a cool project idea but nothing else? Put it in the project ideas thread instead!

I have seen two pinkies killing each other. I'm not sure why, but I suspect the one of the pinky accidentally use the charge attack right into another pinky, and you know what happen next...

edit: yooooo

Setting the damage at a flat 20 doesn't mean it'll always deal 20, doom does a weird damage equation that can result in it doing crazy large amounts of damage. You're basically giving this enemy a free ohko fireball.
Now this was a typo. That value was only for the "Big" fireball. Not for the small one. Fixed

DBThanatos wrote: GZDOOM NOT RUNNING BECAUSE OF OLD HARDWARE. HOW TO FIX.

In the meantime, it has called our attention that a portion of users can't play the GZdoom devbuilds due to old hardware, particularly the graphics card. The jump of GZdoom from the 1.x to 2.x meant it needed newer shaders, only available in "newer" video cards. This doesnt mean it needs state of the art hardware, but it indeed is a higher requirement than what the 1.x versions had.

This has caused that some people just cant run GZDoom at all, with or without D4D. It just so happens that D4D requires the very latest GZdoom's features, only available in the 2.x versions of the engine.

However, there's two ways around this, neither of these are pretty, but they will allow people to somewhat play D4D if they so desire. They both are about using the software render, but remember

SOFTWARE RENDERING DOES NOT HAVE FULL COLOR SUPPORT. IT USES A 256 COLOR PALETTE, AND THE D4D EFFECTS WILL LOOK LESS THAN OPTIMAL: BAD COLORS AND OTHER VISUAL GLITCHES, ESPECIALLY IN LASER EFFECTS, be ready for ugliness.

That being said, this a non elegant solution for players that simply cannot run the hardware render. Might look ugly, but is better than nothing, right?

** Method 1 **

The first one is the easiest: getting the latest Zdoom devbuild (instead of GZDoom). Zdoom has only software rendering, so therefore, will work even with computers with the weakest video hardware (with exceptions probably).

Download Zdoom devbuilds here:
http://devbuilds.drdteam.org/zdoom/

** Method 2 **

The second, is to enable gzdoom's software render, but this is slightly tricky.
1. Run Gzdoom. It will crash/inform the lack of hardware. Close the application.
2. GZdoom will create a .ini with the name of your computer in the same folder where you have GZdoom.
3. Open the .ini with notepad and search for "vid_render" without the quotes.
4. Change it's value to 0
5. Save the file
6. Run the game

At this point, it will be in software render and you will be able to load and play D4D.
I feel obligated to add something to this, since I kind of started the issue here:
First method did not work for me - the newest ZDoom build would not even start.
Second one works. The beams and such are ugly, but this was expected and I do not give a s*** really (I am playing an over 20 years game, so I long since accepted ugly graphics). There is that one big problem still, which can be gamebreaking for some: weapon mods are unavailable. I can open the weapon selection menu, but whenever I try to enter into any of the seven upgradeable weapons, the game kisses me goodbye. HOWEVER, for some reason during the few first test sessions I could open the Shotgun's menu! I could not buy anything because I had not enough credits (is there a cheat to get more credits - for science? :D ), but I could highlight both of the mods, so I suspect that UNDER SOME UNIDENTIFIED CONDITIONS, CSG may be able to be upgraded even when running in software mode. The only sign that told me that I can open the given weapon's mod menu was that the weapon in question appeared in full voxel model - if it is only displayed with contours, expect immediate crash if you click on it. I have no idea how to replicate a voxel weapon in mods menu, so this report remains only a curiosity for now. I will post again if it happens again.

One more thing: only 30/50 shells carry limit for shotguns? Why so low? Seriously, in Doom 4 it was already absurdly low (20 by default  ), and I think it is not a good example to follow. 12 gauge shells (maybe they are of lower gauge, but most probably they are twelve) are not that big. Compare that to starting carrying capacity for HAR and CG ammo, which is 250. To better compare, look at this: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73 ... 895a52.jpg. .50 Beowulf is probably roughly the size of the .50 FMJ from the game, and is only a bit smaller than 12ga.
Why not return to the old limits of 50/100 for shells? On the early maps this may not be a problem, but not so with later ones that have much more demons in relation to the ammo available (and Zombies here only drop bullets, from what I seen). And does not Double Double Trouble Trouble last only for 10 seconds or so with only 50 shells spare? (I cannot test it myself, which SUCKS  ).

Dude, I already told you, the download links there give me a BUNCH OF FILES THAT CONTAIN NOTHING.

I have tried EVERYTHING to extract the files correctly, but it doesn't work!

The problem isn't my computer because the July 9 version gives me the normal GZDoom files.

Ok, its WinRar that went full retard I think. The files inside the WinRar zip are normal, but when they get extracted they turn into some useless files: they have NOTHING inside of them.

What program do you use to extract GZDoom?

I don't see no other solution that this (or updating WinRar).

GZDoom has been updated on the DRD team site.

http://devbuilds.drdteam.org/gzdoom/

Go grab it. This should fix some of the crashings that are happening.

Yeah, but that requires you to hug it and hope RNG likes you. This one I just fired from a distance and it just died.
if you point-blank a Mastermind with the regular BFG, it WILL die. no RNG required, it will always damage higher than the Mastermind's HP.

I think it's better to add all upgrades in weaponlist, cos so easy to get all addons, and... much more interesting. Like Doom 2016 style.
Carrying more rockets and shells should be!
Not enough ammo for BFG, why backpack don't give at least 1 shot?

In whole, brilliant mod and great job. Thanks a lot.
