The Official ZDF New Doom Thread
Re: The Official ZDF New Doom Thread
I'm not aware of any recent faulty drivers from Nvidia, and I've had no issues with the latest drivers. As for DOOM-related issues though, the only hiccup I've experienced is the occasional game crash. They don't happen very often though, and it seems that it's triggered under very specific circumstances. Turning down the sharpening amount in the advanced video options fixes it for the most part.
Re: The Official ZDF New Doom Thread
I know you're trying to help, but the thing is any of the obvious stuff like that I've already done. It's just getting tiring hearing the same generic "update drivers" reply. The drivers may actually be the problem, and AMD is too incompetent to fix it in a timely manner. Did you know that the current AMD drivers can't even capture gameplay on DOOM using something like FRAPS? It records audio but just a static image. Unacceptable. I can't wait to switch to Nvidia soon with the 1070.Inchworm wrote:Did you tinker with any control panels or other settings before this became a recurring problem? DOOM also has its own set of GPU drivers, so installing the latest version might help if you haven't done it already.

Played more MP today. Most matches ended in raging defeat but I had a very satisfying 42-14 TDM victory at the end.

Re: The Official ZDF New Doom Thread
so i might be getting the game soon, but i'd like to know if the latest Nvidia drivers, 368.22, are running okay for people here? i just want to make sure it doesn't give me system crashes and whatnot.

With people constantly boasting such high kill numbers, I can't help but have a strange feeling that Europe/Eurasia might be the only region with a pretty decent spread of player skill.MJ79 wrote:Played more MP today. Had another day of MP and ended up rage quitting. No matter how hard I try, I always fuck up and lose, and it drives me batshit insane.
I swear, my skills are so atrocious I'm thinking even the Polygon player will hand me my ass if we get into a duel.

for anyone wanting to try the game, this whole week you can download a demo of the tutorial and first level of the game on Steam. a bit odd that the demo is a limited time only, but there ya go. it ran just fine on my system and the gameplay was pretty fun. i'll probably get the full game soon.

In case you missed the E3 prezzie, here's the snippet of Doom stuff:

Weapon wheel in SnapMap? Real solo experience? Hell modules?
THANK GOD.

The best part is that it's all free, which is something you very rarely see in today's gaming market.Nevander wrote:Weapon wheel in SnapMap? Real solo experience? Hell modules?

Re: The Official ZDF New Doom Thread
well, they're only really fixing up the things people complained about (the subpar multiplayer and lack of options in SnapMap.) there's still gonna be DLC and such, but that's for other, new content IIRC. here they're fixing up what is already in the game.
it is refreshing that they're not trying to scrounge you for every penny you have though.

What about a proper singleplayer save system?

I was just reminded of what Glory Kills in Doom made me remember that was totally 90's. A friend is playing the demo and keeps finding flavors of the 90's in it.

Re: The Official ZDF New Doom Thread
Oh, so if anybody wants to try-before-you-buy, there is currently a playable demo of the new Doom on Steam, PSN, and XBL...but only for the rest of this week. (Sadly, this does me no good whatsoever, because my machine is absolutely not going to run it.)
